Bandwidth has revealed it is to extend its relationship with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to leverage its Amazon Chime Software Development Kit (SDK).

The partnership will see the global telecoms solutions firm increase the pace of its innovation and extend the ecosystem for the Bandwidth Communications Cloud. In turn, this will be used to support Global 2000 enterprise cloud adoption.

Karl Perkins, Chief Innovation Officer, Bandwidth, announced the extension of the partnership and said: “Leveraging the power of AWS will help us accelerate our innovation roadmap and streamline the development of new use cases for Global 2000 enterprises to capture all the benefits of moving to the cloud.”

Bandwidth focuses on helping businesses migrate to the cloud: moving voice, text messaging, and emergency calls for better brand experiences, reducing operating costs, utilising new artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, and diminishing regulatory burdens.

The company is currently expanding its ecosystem of solutions, capabilities and collaboration to cater for the digital transformation of Global 2000 companies. Perkins elaborated:

“The Amazon Chime SDK will be a key toolkit as we expand our Bandwidth Communications Cloud into a next-level intelligent network platform with key functionality already built in — whether it’s artificial intelligence and machine learning, advanced data and insights or pre-integrations with leading vendors.”

The Amazon Chime SDK is a set of real-time communication components developers can use to add messaging, audio, video and screen-sharing capabilities to web or mobile apps.

The kit works independently of an Amazon Chime administrator account, providing builder tools developers can use to create their conferencing applications.

Sid Rao, General Manager of Amazon Chime SDK, added: “Simplifying customer adoption of machine learning capabilities for real-time communication capabilities remains a principal focus for us at AWS.

“Our work with Bandwidth expands enterprise access to the latest advances in machine learning that improve fidelity and sentiment recognition for global voice calls.”

Bandwidth’s global engineering team will leverage the Amazon Chime SDK to embed intelligent, real-time, machine learning-generated communication capabilities into their applications with what it says represent the first phase of its collaboration with AWS.

Originator of Global CPaaS

With coverage in over 60 countries and over 90 percent of global GDP, Bandwidth’s unified communication and contact centre offerings are powered not only by AWS but also Cisco, Google, Microsoft, RingCentral, Zoom, Genesys and Five9.

Additionally, the software firm works with Global 2000 companies and SaaS developers such as Docusign, Uber and Yosi Health. As an originator of cloud communications, Bandwidth declares itself to be the first and only global Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS) offering a unique combination of composable APIs.

CPaaS Market to Grow for Big and Small Firms

Global 2000 represents the largest companies in the world and is ranked by Forbes using the four metrics of sales, research, assets, and market value. Juniper Research forecasts that the global CPaaS industry will create more than $34 billion in sales by 2026. Much of the 80 percent predicted growth in the CPaaS sector will come from support for SMEs and larger firms.

Communications Platform as a Service is transforming business through cloud migration in several ways and is set to be turbo-charged by implementing AI power for efficiency, the volume of data and security management. Businesses have seen better messaging, tighter security, flexible deployment, wide-ranging availability and the profound ability to analyse data and statistics better and faster.
