The pandemic has definitely changed our buying habits. Brick-and-mortar stores closing have put an end to foot-based shopping sprees, at least for now; and payments are being conducted mostly online or via the contact centre. As this trend is expected to remain once countries slowly begin to go back to normal – secure payments are becoming an issue of critical importance, as does their effect on customer experience.

This is what makes PCI Pal’s inaugural event, Payments: The Future of Security and CX, dealing with the reciprocity between secure payments and CX, incredibly relevant. The event will take place on 24th February 2021, 3 PM GMT / 10 AM EST.

The Vision: Securing Payments Globally

PCI Pal, a leading provider of secure SaaS solutions, empowers companies to take payments securely, maintaining compliance and avoiding legal risks and data loss. The company’s solutions cover all business communications environments, from voice to social, and can be used by any size organisation. PCI Pal has a clear vision: to be the go-to global provider of secure cloud-based payments solutions.

“We’ve set up our business to be able to work with any company of any size anywhere in the world to help secure their most sensitive data – payment data,” shares James Barham, PCI Pal CEO.

“For any organisation worldwide, losing data in today’s world can have catastrophic consequences,”

The results of a global survey conducted by the company, looking at consumer sentiment around data security post-COVID, confirm this statement.

“We see consumers becoming far less tolerant of organisations that lose data, with increasing numbers choosing not to return to businesses that have recently suffered a loss. As this trend is only expected to grow stronger with the continued increase in consumer awareness, protecting information is critical.”

The Event: How, Why, and for Whom

This brings us to the upcoming virtual event.

“While there are many virtual payment events and CX events going on right now – there wasn’t anything available to companies allowing them to look at how payments and CX fit together,” explains Jane Goodayle, SVP Global Marketing at PCI Pal.

“We wanted to create an event that would allow companies to gain insight into how technology providers are intertwining security with CX. It was particularly important for us to lead this with our partners, who will talk about what they have done in their own customer experience offerings to achieve this.”

The free-of-charge event will be aimed at global attendees and will be recorded for those unable to attend live.

“We have a variety of great partners involved,” says Goodayle. “It’s not just the UC, CCaaS or CX providers, but payment service providers as well. The PSPs are going to give their side of the story, and large brands such as Oracle and Vonage are joining in. It’s going to be a really interesting agenda covering all angles.”

The planned keynotes are widely-known names in the payment industry.

One of them is Neira Jones, PCI Pal Advisory Committee Member, Former Head of Payments at Barclaycard and Board Advisor to the PCI SSC; and the other is Ciske van Oosten, Head of Global Intelligence at Verizon Security and Lead Author of Verizon’s 2020 Payment Security Report.

“It’s important to realise that securing data is only one aspect of the challenge,” explains Barham.

“Achieving security without being detrimental to an organisation’s CX operation or to its CX decision-making is what helps build a complete picture. This is what this event is all about”

“This is the first event of its kind that we have run and the first event in our sector of its kind too. It is certainly something we want to repeat in the future,” says Barham. “We’d love to do it in person next year.”
