Spectralink has launched its new series of next-gen handsets to boost frontline worker productivity, security and safety.
The three-model S series complements Spectralink’s portfolio of Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT) solutions for deskless mobile workers. The new handsets fulfil a wireless calling solution that is fully interoperable and simple to integrate with alarms, messaging and business telephony platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Cisco, ZoomPhone, RingCentral, Dstny and Avaya.
“The new handsets add to our industry-leading DECT solutions, confirming Spectralink’s commitment to innovation,” Doug Werking, CEO at Spectralink, commented. “We provide our customers with the most durable mobile infrastructure for business-critical communication, collaboration, and worker safety.”
The new handsets enable excellence by empowering mobile workforces, but, more importantly, they introduce the most innovative DECT device family in the global market designed to provide modern user experience and future-proof investment for new innovation.”
The S Series Feature Set
The S Series handsets streamline the Spectralink portfolio by moving to three global models — the S33, S35, and S37.
The handsets’ durable design is complemented by a secure platform directly addressing users’ requirements in the industrial, retail, hospitality, and healthcare sectors.
The three devices share a set of traditional accessories, including chargers and belt clips, as well as deployment stages. The S Series offers full compatibility with the Spectralink AMIE (Advanced Mobile Intelligence for Enterprise) platform, enabling the centralised management of the general Spectralink IP-DECT infrastructure.
To respond to frontline workers in 2023 expecting compelling graphics with functional icon-driven navigation, the new handsets fuse a modern colour display with Spectralink’s robust design adaptable to even the most challenging working conditions.
The handsets also provide excellent voice quality and noise cancellation technology, ensuring the integrity of critical communications even in loud production environments that traditionally would overwhelm voice on single microphone devices. The robust design can cope with dust particles, water or chemical detergents in environments where handsets are frequently exposed to such agents.
Spectralink designed the S Series to ensure frontline workers stay connected under challenging conditions — protect their personal safety, as well as improve their productivity. The S Series offers sole workers a range of built-in safety features, with Spectralink citing an example of an engineer taking readings in remote or dangerous areas of a production site. The handsets’ protection tools range from red alarm buttons to alarm icons, pull cords, and automatic motion detection.
Devices are also equipped with various productivity-improving features, including integration with Microsoft Teams, Bluetooth 5.1 support to enable headsets or other accessories, and messaging functionality.
September is Quite the Month for New DECT Handsets
Spectralink hasn’t been the only major vendor that has released next-gen DECT handsets this month.
Last week, Mitel announced its new 700d series of DECT handsets that complement reliability with elegance. The suite constitutes four DECT devices that intend to fix a variety of user requirements, regardless of how simple or complex, and address the comms needs of organisations in various industries, from healthcare and hospitality to education and retail.
Mitel outlined that the 700d handsets aim to meet the needs of frontline workers where safety, durability, access, mobility, communication, messaging, location services, and alarm handling are critical to working efficiently and securely. The 700d series also comprises Mitel’s SIP-DECT multi-cellular mobility product, encompassing enterprise-grade dependability for business communications and Mitel UC platforms.
It’s not just handsets receiving next-gen hardware and software upgrades — earlier this summer, Tango Networks launched eSIMS for Teams Phone to empower frontline workers.
The offering, Tango Extend, turns mobile phones into an extension of a Teams-enabled fixed-line phone number from certified operators. The service utilises Teams’ SIP Gateway technology to mobilise fixed-line phone numbers. This enables employees working remotely or on the go to make and receive Teams calls through the native dialer on their mobile phones.
