Tata Communications GlobalRapide 2.0 is an integrated managed service for migration, end-to-end management and automation of Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS). Tata Communications GlobalRapide 2.0 has evolved to be a multi-layer offering of voice services, UCaaS platforms, and a fully-integrated portfolio of managed services. UC Today’s George Malim, spoke to Sriram Sampath Vice President – Collaboration and Connected Solutions, Tata Communications, to learn more about Tata Communications GlobalRapide 2.0.

GM: Why have you added new capabilities to Tata Communications GlobalRapide in this latest version?

Sriram Sampath: UCaaS is projected to grow at 9.3% CAGR between 2020 and 2025 while on-premises IP telephony is predicted to decline at -13.2% CAGR so it’s clear the journey to cloud-based communications solutions is already underway. This is a complex journey for enterprises to undertake and we have developed GlobalRapide 2.0 to help enterprises to migrate from their legacy systems to a cloud-based platform efficiently. Our goal is to help organisations assess, migrate and deploy, adopt and then manage and measure their transformation to UCaaS.

By adding integrations to the platforms that enterprises use and augmenting them with our capabilities, such as voice services from our cloud, PSTN replacement services, managed SBC solutions, BYOC integrations with several UCaaS players, fraud prevention services and more. We are delivering a fully-integrated solution that simplifies and assists enterprises in their transformation journeys.

GM: Why do enterprises need Tata Communications GlobalRapide 2.0? Why wouldn’t they just go to an OEM vendor who sells collaboration products?

SS: When enterprises are considering implementing a UCaaS platform, their needs are not just the platform alone. They want these UCaaS products to work with existing assets that they have purchased. In addition to this, during the process of migration to the new platform, enterprises do not want to miss any business, regulatory or operational requirements. Many enterprises need a partner who would help them migrate their existing solutions to the new platform and in that process – assess, implement, monitor, measure and manage them on an ongoing basis to maximise their investments.

Tata Communications GlobalRapide 2.0 provides all the above through various tools, products and services besides voice termination, global coverage, security, compliance and regulatory requirements.

Organisations may know about the need to integrate voice infrastructure, but they don’t realise the complexity behind it. If you work with a partner who isn’t global, you end up with a sprawling web of vendors making it difficult to manage your operations with respect to availability, reach and SLAs.

GM: What does the employee experience look like?

Tata Communications GlobalRapide 2.0 addresses employee experience challenges in the hybrid workplace. Using technology for automation, data intelligence for advanced monitoring & reporting, and self-service capabilities for change management and easy adoption, the offering is driven by a SaaS platform-based strategy, making it easier for administrators to get visibility and handle user issues seamlessly. They don’t have to worry about handling security and regulatory-compliance issues, as they are part of our platform offering and we manage it for our customers.
