Zoom has sold one million Zoom Phone seats less than two years after the product launched.

Zoom Phone hit the market in January 2019 and has since been rolled out rapidly to over 40 countries. Innovation on the product has also continued at a rate of knots throughout that period, to now boast over 400 features.

Graeme Geddes, Head of Zoom Phone, said: “We are excited to see this level of uptake in such a short timeframe.

“Our customers have come to rely on Zoom to deliver amazing video and audio for them at scale, and they’re seeing tremendous value in consolidating and modernizing their telephony services with us as well.

“This milestone really speaks to the level of trust we have built with our customers”

Zoom Phone has quickly become a staple of Zoom’s portfolio, and in November the firm revealed it had recently secured its largest ever Zoom Phone deal.

The voice service was also hailed as “absolutely the fastest growing product” for Zoom in the same quarter by Zoom CFO, Kelly Steckelberg.

Hitting the Mark

Zoom says that its phone product is seeing rapid adoption across all business segments – from small businesses right up the enterprise – with high-profile clients include Rakuten and eBay.

Susan Delaney, Director, Global Network Service at eBay, said that using the Zoom platform has increased productivity across the business.

“Zoom Phone has been incredibly valuable when it comes to keeping our teams connected,” she said.

“The one-click option allows users to elevate calls to meetings with ease, alleviating the need to juggle multiple platforms.”

“The one-click option to elevate calls to meetings allowed our users ease, and reduced time spent, alleviating the need to juggle multiple platforms.

“Zoom’s pricing plans made it easy to roll out a single solution across our offices around the world.”

Like the rest of the vendor’s portfolio, Zoom Phone prides itself on its reliable, enterprise-grade features and modern user experience.

Zoom Phone is available as an add-on as part of the Zoom Pro subscription, as well as in all higher tiers.

It is also including as part of Zoom United, which bundles Phone together with Meetings and Chat.

New features have been added at a relentless pace since the 2019 launch, with a notable recent addition being the ability to detect and block spam calls.

Zoom Phone Product Marketing Manager Cari Dick recently told UC Today that these tools are crucial in boosting user experience.

Other advances include improvements to security and privacy functionality; the introduction of Zoom SMS; and the ability for users to reserve phone numbers.

It is these 400-plus features that have helped propel Zoom to the forefront of the market, into an elite group that is tough to break in to.

In fact, Zoom forced its way into the top-right corner of Gartner’s UCaaS Magic Quadrant towards the end of last year, when Zoom Phone was not even two years’ old.

The analyst praised Zoom for its platform’s ease of use and also for its robust SLA target of 99.999 per cent – despite Zoom Phone being relatively new to the market.

Gartner isn’t alone in praising Zoom’s credentials in the UC space.

Elka Popova, VP of Connected Work Research at Frost & Sullivan, said Zoom Phone has been an “astounding success”.

“Thanks to its innovative pricing model and widespread availability in more than 40 countries, it has quickly become an attractive option for many SMB and enterprise customers around the world,” she said.
