Zoom has launched AI Companion 3.0, the latest version of its AI-powered productivity tool.

The new platform is designed to streamline workflows, uncover insights, and turn meetings into actionable tasks – without leaving a single web interface.

The update includes personal workflows (currently in beta), agentic AI for Zoom Docs, and a fully revamped web interface.

Together, these features aim to make it easier for users to manage their workday and stay organised.

“The launch of AI Companion 3.0 is a turning point for Zoom, continuing our transformation from a meeting company into a pioneer of AI-first intelligent work orchestration,” said Velchamy Sankarlingam, President of Product and Engineering at Zoom.

“By empowering our users with new AI Companion capabilities, we’re helping them get even more done so they can focus on connection.”

Federated AI Powers Smarter Workflows

AI Companion 3.0 uses Zoom’s federated AI approach.

It combines Zoom’s own language models with third-party models from OpenAI and Anthropic. Users can also choose open-source models, such as NVIDIA Nemotron.

The company says this approach improves transcription, captions, and translations. It also makes information retrieval and task completion faster and more accurate. The system analyses meetings, notes, and related documents without requiring manual uploads or complex prompts.

By allowing multiple AI engines to work together, Zoom can offer faster responses, more accurate suggestions, and a wider range of insights tailored to individual workflows.

A Web-Based Experience

AI Companion 3.0 can now be accessed directly from a desktop web browser at ai.zoom.us – removing the need for a dedicated desktop app.

Users can interact with a conversational work surface that turns meeting discussions and documents into actionable outputs.

Zoom Workplace Basic users can also now try select features without a paid subscription. The full AI Companion 3.0 experience is available as a standalone add-on for $10 per month.

The web interface can track tasks, summarise meetings, and draft documents, all while staying connected to their team.

Key Features: From Agentic Retrieval to Zoom Docs

AI Companion 3.0 comes with features designed to save time and increase productivity:

  • Agentic Retrieval searches across Zoom Workplace assets and third-party apps, including Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive. Gmail and Outlook support will come soon.
  • Post-Meeting Follow-Up automatically generates tasks and draft emails.
  • Daily Reflection Reports summarise meetings, updates, and outstanding tasks.
  • Agentic Writing Mode helps draft, edit, and refine business documents.
  • Zoom Docs Integration supports collaborative editing, version control, and co-authoring. Users can export files in Markdown, PDF, Word, or Zoom Docs formats.
  • My Notes (coming soon) captures key details across Zoom and in-person meetings.
  • Personal Workflows (beta) automate recurring tasks, such as summarising team chats or generating daily insights reports.

These features can turn scattered notes and discussions into structured, actionable work, while reducing cognitive load and freeing up time for higher-value tasks.

Additionally, AI Companion 3.0 can help teams brainstorm projects, prepare presentations, and generate initial drafts with context-aware suggestions.

Security, Privacy, and Responsible AI

Zoom emphasises security, privacy, and responsible AI use, with all data encrypted in transit and at rest.

This includes communication with third-party model providers. Zoom says it does not use customer communications to train its own or third-party AI models.

The company also confirmed that users retain full control over their data and AI outputs. This level of transparency aims to address common enterprise concerns about AI adoption while maintaining compliance with privacy regulations.

The Future of Intelligent Work

AI Companion 3.0 continues Zoom’s evolution from a meeting-first company to an AI-first productivity platform.

The combination of advanced AI, federated models, and a user-friendly web interface may help users capture insights, automate workflows, and focus on meaningful work.

As agentic AI features expand and Zoom Docs integration rolls out, organisations will be expecting gains in efficiency, clarity, and collaboration. AI Companion 3.0 could offer a democratised, practical solution for the AI-driven workplace of the future.

By bridging AI-powered insights with real-world workflows, Zoom aims to reduce administrative overhead and enable employees to spend more time on high-impact work.
