Three-quarters of UK organisations believe that remote workers pose a greater security risk to their business than office workers, according to new research from WatchGuard
The network security vendor surveyed UK cybersecurity, IT, and business professionals and discovered that over half of UK businesses have experienced an end point cyberattack targeted at end user devices over the past 12 months. As organisations embark on a hybrid working model, 83 percent of respondents feel that cyberattacks on their business will increase over the next year.
The report also found that budget and skillset are the two main barriers to improving security for many organisations. And while loss of revenue from a security breach is a major concern for businesses, respondents see the main threats to their businesses from a breach as loss of customer trust, damage to the brand, and potential compliance or regulatory consequences.
βCybercriminalsΒ will alwaysΒ find new and inventive ways toΒ mount their attacks andΒ exploit the weakest linksΒ and target employeesΒ when they are most vulnerable,β saidΒ Jon-Marc Wilkinson, Sales Director UK & IrelandΒ at WatchGuard Technologies.
βThe survey reveals that homeΒ workers are at mostΒ risk and thatΒ increasingly sophisticatedΒ phishingΒ techniques areΒ theΒ most popular wayΒ toΒ gain a βfoot in the doorβ into corporate networksβΒ
βWith budgets and skills in short supply, it is more important than ever for companies toΒ spend their money wisely onΒ technology that willΒ help protectΒ users and theirΒ endpointΒ devicesΒ β wherever they areΒ β and is easy to deploy and manage.βΒ Β
