Zoom AI Companion has hit the one million meeting summary milestone.

Zoom’s generative AI assistant has reached the figure less than two months since the solution’s launch, with over 125,000 accounts leveraging the service.

To celebrate the achievement, Zoom has revealed new capabilities, additional language support, and improvements to existing capabilities for AI Companion, such as meeting coaching and in-meeting questions.

Smita Hashim, Chief Product Officer at Zoom, commented:

Providing the best value to our customers across our platform is core to our mission, which is why we made AI Companion available at no additional cost, and we continue to introduce new AI capabilities at Zoom speed so more of our customers can get the most out of Zoom’s AI innovations. Our unique federated approach allows us to dynamically utilize different models, helping to reduce AI overhead costs and provide broad access to generative AI.”

Zoom AI Companion’s New Features and Imminent Features

Two new capabilities have been added to Zoom AI Companion, starting today. The first is that users can now utilise AI Companion’s in-meeting questions capability in seven new languages (available in preview).

The second new feature is that meeting summaries now include an overview at the top of emailed summaries. This offers users a briefer version of the meeting summary to complement the full meeting summary.

Zoom AI Companion will be updated with several new features in November, including meeting summary overviews becoming available in summaries delivered through continuous meeting chat.

An intriguing new feature is that AI Companion will soon provide users with meeting coach capabilities. The first of these will be through speech analytics in Smart Recordings. Speech analytics encompasses the meeting host’s talk-listen ratio, talk speed, and speech fillers. This enables the host to gain insights into how they engage with meeting participants during Zoom Meetings.

In November, AI Companion will be available in Zoom Events. Functionally, this provides Zoom Events users with chat compose features for lobby chats and assistance with composing emails for registration, marketing, and ticketing comms.

AI Companion meeting summary and in-meeting questions capabilities will support 32 new languages. At the same time, Zoom will add an optional control for users to specify that AI Companion capabilities for their organisation only utilise Zoom’s large language model.

Zoomtopia 2023

There was a myriad of news at this month’s Zoomtopia 2023, including October updates for Zoom AI Companion.

Zoom expanded AI Companion’s summarisation features to new industry customers in higher education and healthcare. Corroborating that announcement, Zoom unveiled a new capability for AI Companion — the idea generation board in Whiteboard, which is now generally available. It also detailed the next series of compelling features currently in development for the generative AI assistant.

Zoom launched its AI-powered solution, Zoom Docs, to improve worker productivity and collaboration. The business stated the collaboration workspace was “purpose-built to address today’s hybrid working challenges”. It encompassed document and wiki creation and seamless workflow and project management processes.

Furthermore, Crestron introduced new solutions and certifications at Zoomtopia to support Zoom customers in their daily workflows. Crestron received Zoom certifications for the Videobar 70 and intelligent video cameras. It also launched a new Zoom Phone Appliance and Scheduling Panel with Zoom Rooms software.

Additionally, the Snom M500 DECT series has been certified by Zoom Phone, which Snom Americas stated will “revolutionise the Zoom Phone resellers channel”. Zoom also underlined enhancements, incentives, and support programs to strengthen its partner program, Zoom Up.

Zoom’s ISV Exchange Programme

Last week, Zoom announced its internet software vendor (ISV) programme, which includes prestigious partners such as Theta Lake and Verint.

The programme builds upon Zoom Partner Connect and will enable Zoom to resell choice ISV solutions directly to customers. By integrating partner services within the Zoom platform, the video conferencing and collaboration giant can meet more customer demands and streamline the purchasing process with a unified, all-inclusive experience.
