Zoom has announced a series of updates to Zoom Spaces in a move that impacts AV professionals, IT managers, and business leaders.

The updates include AI-powered visitor management with photo check-in, expanded recorder capabilities for Zoom Rooms, and partnerships with HP, Google, Cisco, Meta, and Logitech.

The announcement follows Zoom’s strong earnings call, where the company demonstrated its ability to attract major customers through its suite of products.

These updates build on that momentum by addressing specific operational pain points that persist as companies settle into long-term hybrid work patterns.

“The future of office work is being revolutionized. Zoom Spaces transform how we think about collaboration by creating dynamic environments where innovation and productivity aren’t limited by physical presence,”

Jeff Smith, Head of Product for Workplace AI, Meetings, and Spaces at Zoom, said.

These updates largely target different aspects of hybrid work challenges while maintaining compatibility with existing enterprise technology investments.

AV Professionals Get Professional-Grade Controls

The Custom AV for Zoom Rooms update provides high-quality outputs with control over gallery sizes, overlays, and content.

The new Custom AV protocols work on both Windows and macOS Zoom Rooms.

This gives AV teams the flexibility to specify visual parameters that align with professional broadcasting requirements, rather than working within rigid software limitations.

The certification of Blackmagic Design’s DeckLink Duo 2 and Quad 2 in the new Zoom Custom AV certification category provides multiple high-quality video outputs.

IT Teams Get Automation Tools for Hybrid Workforce Management

Workspace Reservation with AI Companion recommends which days employees should come to the office based on scheduled meetings and colleague availability.

The system can also book recommended desks or Zoom Rooms automatically.

This reduces administrative overhead for IT teams while providing data on space utilization patterns.

Day, room, and desk suggestions are available, with full AI Companion integration expected later in June.

The AI-powered Visitor Management system matches visitors to registration photos, eliminating manual verification processes while maintaining security protocols.

The photo check-in feature works at Zoom Rooms kiosks without requiring access codes.

This is particularly useful for organizations with high visitor volumes or regulatory compliance requirements.

The photo check-in capability is expected to be available in September.

On the software side, smart name tags apply labels to people in Zoom Rooms video feeds and show speaker indicators.

This improves the accuracy of AI-generated transcriptions and meeting summaries by properly attributing contributions from in-room participants.

This reduces work for meeting participants while ensuring documentation accuracy.

Voice Recorder with AI Companion has expanded from mobile devices to Zoom Rooms.

Participants can enable recording with a few taps to capture transcriptions, summaries, action items, whiteboards, and shared content.

A QR code system allows participants to claim and save meeting assets to their accounts, solving the problem of orphaned meeting content.

Business Leaders Get Strategic Hardware Integration Options

The Cisco partnership allows organizations with existing Cisco collaboration devices to access Zoom capabilities without hardware replacement.

Zoom for Cisco Rooms will support ad hoc and scheduled meetings with functionality similar to the native Zoom app, including content sharing and advanced layouts like smart gallery and multi-speaker view.

Compatible devices include the Cisco Room Bar, Room Bar Pro, Board Pro, Board Pro G2, Desk Pro, Room Kit EQ, Room Kit EQX, and Room Kit Pro.

Users will need to upgrade Cisco RoomOS to install Zoom for Cisco Rooms, with general availability expected by the end of 2025.

Similarly, an HP and Google collaboration brings Google Beam to enterprises through HP Dimension devices.

These provide a native Zoom Rooms experience with 3D immersive communication, traditional 2D meetings, and interoperability with Microsoft Teams and Webex.

This addresses platform lock-in concerns while providing access to emerging collaboration technologies.

Logitech’s expanded certifications include the Rally Bar with Sight, now the first Zoom Rooms Appliance certified to support Intelligent Director. This uses multiple cameras and AI to optimize individual participant framing.

The Rally Board 65 combines audio, video, and a 65-inch touchscreen display with minimal IT support requirements.

Additionally, Logitech’s Zone Wired USB headset is now a Zoom Certified Workplace and Contact Center Headset, delivering premium audio and call clarity for desk-based workers and contact centers.

The hardware ecosystem expansion includes document cameras from WolfVision and personal productivity devices like Elgato’s Stream Deck integration.

The Appspace integration with Zoom Rooms enables digital signage to be displayed in Zoom Rooms when they are not being used for calls and presentations.

This recognizes that modern collaboration extends beyond video conferencing into comprehensive workflow integration.

Mixed Reality and Future Technology Integration

In addition to the 3D calling experience provided by Google Beam, Zoom has touted an upcoming Meta Quest integration.

This will support both fully immersive and passthrough modes for mixed reality meetings. Participants using Quest headsets can join meetings with colleagues on traditional devices, reducing adoption barriers while providing a migration path toward immersive collaboration. The Meta Quest integration is expected to be available in July 2025.

The Quest integration addresses practical concerns about mixed reality adoption by maintaining compatibility with existing workflows.

Users can work in their Quest headset while participating in Zoom meetings, using extra screen space for multitasking without isolating themselves from team members using conventional technology.

The expansion of the Zoom Certified Hardware Program into specialized categories reflects recognition that enterprise collaboration requirements vary significantly across industries and use cases.

These updates position organizations to adopt advanced collaboration technologies incrementally without requiring wholesale infrastructure replacement.
