Salesforce has completed its $27.7bn acquisition of Slack.
The deal, which was first announced last November, will see Salesforce integrate Slackβs technology into its Customer 360 CRM suite.
Marc Benioff, Salesforce CEO, said: βWe couldnβt be more excited to have Slack as part of the Salesforce family, combining the number one CRM and the trailblazing digital platform for the work anywhere world.
βTogether weβll define the future of enterprise software, creating the digital HQ that enables every organisation to deliver customer and employee success from anywhereβ
Slack CEO and co-founder Stewart Butterfield will remain in his position as part of the deal, while Salesforce has confirmed that it will retain the Slack branding.
Butterfield said: βWe have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to rethink and reshape how and where we work.
βSalesforce and Slack are uniquely positioned to lead this historic shift to a digital-first world. I could not be more excited for whatβs to come.β
Salesforce said that the acquisition will help businesses create cloud headquarters, with employees set to continuing working remotely, at least part of the time.
Slack recently launched a new set of features that bring audio and video communications into the fold.
