RingCentral, one of the market leaders in communication and cloud collaboration solutions, recently announced the acquisition of a new company invested in AI innovation. RingCentral, known for its amazing video meetings, contact centre solutions and cloud communications, has purchased DeepAffects. The DeepAffects brand has been rapidly building a name for itself as a conversational intelligence pioneer, using AI to analyse and extract insights from conversations.

This recent acquisition forms part of the RingCentral company’s ongoing investment into innovation opportunities for more intelligent video meetings. DeepAffects is delivering new and powerful AI capabilities to companies and allowing RingCentral to provide more impressive experiences pre-meeting, in-meeting, and post-meeting.

Innovating with AI and RingCentral

According to the Chief Operating Officer at RingCentral, Anand Eswaran, as companies continue to shift towards a more hybrid strategy for the workplaces, employees are no longer just in-office. Remote and mobile workers need access to the right tools to remain engaged and productive in this new landscape. The acquisition of DeepAffects will help RingCentral to take its already impressive portfolio of tools for the remote worker to the next level.

DeepAffects will promote the development of conversational speech analysis and sentiment recognition on the RingCentral platform. This will allow companies to access more opportunities for differentiated and best-in-class meeting experiences. Some of the new capabilities to arise from the acquisition of the DeepAffects platform include:

·         Multi-speaker recognition and voiceprints: Companies can identify individuals based on the unique aspects of their voice. It’s also possible to identify the speaker at the time they speak in the conversation too.

·         Multi-modal emotional analysis: The system can recognise sentiment and emotion directly from a user’s voice. This categorizes the conversations based on emotional cues like intensity, pitch, and more, to improve emotional awareness for all participants.

·         Speech accent detection: The speech recognition system with accent detection will allow companies to convert audio into text using powerful models for neural networking. The system can identify a variety of languages and accent variants, so it’s easier to transcribe non-native English speaker voices with higher accuracy.

A Powerful Investment for RingCentral

RingCentral’s decision to invest in innovative companies like DeepAffects will help the brand to continue growing in sizes and potential in the months and years to come. As companies continue to rely on intelligent tools to improve meeting experiences for everyone involved, RingCentral’s acquisition of DeepAffects will lead to a lot of new opportunities.

According to the CEO and Founder of DeepAffects, Prashant Kukde, the company is thrilled to be joining forces with a leader like RingCentral, and empowering workforces with smart video meetings. The terms of the acquisition haven’t been revealed at this point. However, because the acquisition closed in the fourth quarter of 2020, it shouldn’t have a financial impact on RingCentral’s year.
