Zoom is one company that has always taken the video-first approach to communication and collaboration. The business emerged out of nowhere several years ago, promising companies the chance to enjoy all the benefits of immersive video meetings without the hassle.

Now, Zoom is a household name and one of the leaders in the collaboration industry, offering everything from video conferencing to phone calls and instant messaging. As the world of work continues to shift, prioritizing anywhere employees and mobility, Zoom has risen to the challenge.

Over the last few months, the company has tackled everything from security issues to restrictions, to help users get the most out of their collaboration sessions.

Now, a recent slew of updates in August is taking personalised meetings on Zoom to the next level.

Add Your Style to Your Video Meeting

Zoom wants to empower today’s workers to look and feel their best in their video meetings. That’s no easy feat when you consider the fact that most of us are working from poorly-structured home offices, surrounded by daily distractions.

Fortunately, Zoom has several solutions in mind. It’s introducing everything from filters that add a bit of fun to your meetings, to noise suppression and cancellation, to upgrade the conferencing experience. Alongside the ability to make your video grey-scale, or add a unicorn to your head, Zoom also introduced reactions.

Reactions, similar to the types you use on Facebook and Microsoft Teams, make it easy to demonstrate how you feel in a meeting without talking over someone else. You can use reactions like hearts, celebrations, and laughter to show your thoughts in seconds.

Another interesting update comes in the way that users can present content. You can share keynote presentations our PowerPoints as a virtual background, moving your face cam around the screen so that it doesn’t cover any vital information. You can even resize your camera if you need to.

Bringing More Fun to Functional Meetings

The wide range of exciting new updates to the Zoom platform is available as part of Zoom Version 5.2, a new and enhanced version of the popular software. Zoom is encouraging anyone that wants to try out the new capabilities to upgrade to the recent version. However, you can also control exactly how much access your team has to these new features too.

Managers and supervisors can disable meeting filters at the group, account, or user level on the Zoom web portal. This will be an essential touch for companies that want to keep meetings as professional as possible. You can add things like noise cancellation into the mix and PowerPoint backgrounds, but stop people from using pirate eye-patch filters if you like.

Zoom is also encouraging anyone who uses the new version to give some feedback. The company says it’s committing to listening to its audience and responding to their needs. It might be worth getting in touch if you think that there’s anything Zoom has missed in this latest update.
