On the heels of Vyopta’s recent first-to-market announcement of digital experience and performance monitoring for Google Meet, the company recently announced additional analytics capabilities. This full slate of capabilities will enable organizations to better understand key UC metrics including such as historical performance, usage and adoption to more accurately determine ROI of collaboration technologies and make critical organizational decisions.

While usage of Vyopta’s support for Google Meet is largely horizontal and will help organizations across the 20+ different industries Vyopta serves, Jonathan Sass, Vyopta’s VP of Product, says he is particularly passionate about how Vyopta’s the addition of analytics will significantly help in the education space. 

“We can help educators and administrators with analytics to determine whether students are attending virtual classes on Google Meet or other platforms,” explains Sass. “Similarly, on the monitoring side, it is critical to ensure that the quality exists at a high level for students so they can extract the most value from the lessons. Poor quality leads to poor engagement.”  

With the introduction of this new functionality for Google Meet, Vyopta has also announced a new price for non-profits and educational institutions.  

Many school systems are already leveraging Google Meet’s technology but lack the tools that Vyopta provides to help ensure a high-quality experience that encourages student attendance and engagement. As in the corporate world, a good quality experience is paramount in the education space. A poor user experience reduces the amount of learning or collaboration that can occur and will impact overall achievement.   

Improving the Digital Experience

“Our foremost priority is the detection of issues, but we also supply the tools needed to investigate and remediate where the incident is taking place,” details Sass about Vyopta’s approach. “The first step relating to any issue is to identify that the issue exists. Through our alerting  engine and different dashboards within the  Collaboration Performance Management platform, we can identify those issues and detect when they’re taking place” 

The second step is to determine where the issue sits. An incident could be an issue with the cloud provider, a home network or headset, or an issue with the IT infrastructure.” 

Being able to provide the analytics and datasets for incident investigation improves remediation strategies, decreases downtime and improves quality. Especially with schools, there could be tens of thousands of users affected by a single issue. Vyopta shines with its ability to detect those issues and identify the source at a systematic level.  

A Better Future for Online School

Schools can now take full advantage of the customization and flexibility that exists within Vyopta’s tools. Certain metrics are applicable horizontally across organizations, such as call quality, call volume, or meeting quality that provide insights for every use case.   

For education, specific metrics can be generated by class, subject, school districts, or even specific schools to create the necessary reports for the superintendent or the IT department. Additionally, custom alerting configurations can be applied by Vyopta’s dedicated customer success team. 

While it was helped along into the public eye by the wholesale closures of schools across the world during the COVID-19 pandemic, distance learning is by no means temporary. Large school districts across the world have seen the benefits of expanded access that they were previously unable to provide.  

Just last month, a large K-12 school district in Texas committed to continuing its investment in distance learning with an approved $90 million bond dedicated to technology and services to provide distance learning to its 49,000 students. Schools have discovered that, whether it’s a global pandemic or a snow day, learning doesn’t have to stop just because the building is closed. We are only now starting to see the full potential of distance learning coming to fruition, and at Vyopta we’ll be there to make sure educators and administrators can keep students collaborating, engaged, and learning.
