Cisco, a leading provider of communication and collaboration tools, is offering businesses help to ensure productivity and efficiency in the evolving hybrid workspace. A recent blog post by Javed Khan, the SVP and General Manager of Cisco Collaboration, highlights Cisco’s recent findings that only 9% of the global workforce will return fully to the office after it reopens. Around 98% of respondents said that they expect at least one remote worker to attend every meeting.

Clearly, the workspace is changing, and Cisco believes that intelligent solutions could be the way to support the new workforce. 96% of companies believe intelligent tech would improve work environments. This is why Cisco is introducing a new blueprint for the hybrid workspace, that keeps the team engaged wherever they are.

According to Javed, Cisco is now on a mission to deliver 10 times better experiences, that are even better than being together in-person. To achieve this goal, Cisco is investing in more seamless collaboration experiences with AI technology that eliminates everyday frictions.

Creating Better Environments for Remote Work

Cisco’s recent enhancements to the remote work experience include innovations driven by the company’s recent acquisitions. For instance, after purchasing BabbleLabs, Cisco can now eliminate the distracting background noise in Webex meetings. AI technology automatically silences unwanted sounds so you can hear and communicate clearly. BabbleLabs noise removal tech is already in customer trials, with general availability for Webex Room and Meetings desktop devices already available. Other features include:

  • Preview screen: Cisco is enlarging the preview screen to ensure that you have a great view of how your background is going to look. Controls are easy to use, and you can set video and audio preferences fast. You can even enhance your meeting experience with a virtual or blurred background
  • Fewer clicks: The new easy-to-use design places your controls where you need them most, adapting to your screen size. Easier controls are now central to the experience, with an updated contextual menu and color pallet. You can also customize video screen views too. The new thumbnail controls for every attendee mean users can click on anyone’s avatar or video to directly interact
  • Optimized footprint: Cisco’s survey revealed that 53% of companies are planning to make far-reaching changes that welcome workers to the office again. Machine learning and artificial intelligence play a critical role in optimizing the office for productivity and safety

Better Experiences for Teams

According to Javed, Cisco is introducing a range of new capabilities and devices to assist teams in developing a more intelligent workforce that provides safer, more secure environments for everyone. Cisco is making it easier for IT to take action on important information that could be critical to ensuring a safer, more comfortable workspace.

Thanks to intelligent solutions, Webex can recognise people in a meeting – even when they’re wearing a mask. This is crucial to ensuring that teams comply with secure capacity limits. The integrated collaboration device sensors also monitor conditions in the environment like air quality and temperature too. Metrics and analysis from these sensors make it easier to create the perfect environment for any workplace.

Cisco is also providing a new approach to managing various meeting spaces that ensures better safety and use patterns. Kahn used his blog post to highlight two new Webex Room Navigator versions. These purpose-built solutions include the sensors mentioned above. The Navigators sit outside or inside the meeting room for safer booking experiences. Navigator technology works with touch, or you can use your voice and Webex Assistant.

Both the in-room and out-of-room solutions come with digital signage included, so companies can use the screens to convey crucial information. Built-in no-show technology also automatically senses when nobody shows up for schedule meetings. This frees up the room for other teams to use it.

The exciting approach that Cisco is taking to create new hybrid working experience combines collaboration hardware, software, and cloud AI solutions to create environments that make a massive difference. Whatever the challenge your team might be facing, Webex can now help you to overcome that problem with ease.

Getting Ready for the New Era of Work

As Javed notes in his blog, the research Cisco conducted recently demonstrates how significant the need to prepare for the new era of work really is. Cisco is making it much easier to purchase the entire Webex suite using the Flex program. Flex also includes better together options for licensing that help teams to take full advantage of meeting, messaging, and calling in the cloud.

Whether you’re in the office or boardroom, Cisco is building a more intelligent and immersive experience for companies of all sizes to keep their employees safe.
