Zoom has introduced support for Apple’s Center Stage on the new iPad Pro, which uses an ultra-wide camera to keep participants in frame.

The Center Stage feature means users can go hands-free and move around during Zoom video calls, while new participants will also be picked up as they move into the frame.

“With support for Center Stage, you can participate more naturally in our Zoom video calls,” said Will Chan, Product Manager at Zoom.

“Never again worry about whether you’re out of frame during a workout, teaching a class, or celebrating with friends and family over Zoom”

Center Stage is currently available with Zoom 5.6.6 or later with Apple’s third-generation 11-inch and fifth-generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro devices, both of which were released this month.

Larger Gallery View

Zoom has also upped the number of participants that can be seen in Gallery View across the latestiPad Pro models.

The larger 12.9-inch device can feature 48 video tiles, while smaller devices will be upgraded from the current 25-tile limit, dependent on the size of the screen.

Users can bring more or fewer people into view in a meeting by pinching in and out with two fingers on the screen.

Zoom has also released its monthly round-up of updates across its platform, which include improved developer support and new Platform-wide features and integrations.

The new Premier Developer Support plans let customers purchase support resources from development experts and trained technical personnel. This service is available in three tiers for Pro, Business, Education, Enterprise, Healthcare, ISV, and Video SDK accounts.

Zoom has also launched a development site that will act as a one-stop support hub for developers.

For Zoom Phone, several new integrations have been announced:

  • Google Workspace: Call contacts, event attendees, and external numbers directly from Gmail and Google Calendar
  • Microsoft Dynamics: Initiate and receive Zoom Phone calls, add and manage contacts, and automatically log calls and SMS directly from Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM
  • Dubber: Available for North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific regions, Dubber enables progressive recording functionality, accurate transcriptions, deep sentiment analysis, and Voice AI on the cloud
  • InformaCast Fusion by Singlewire: Protect on-site personnel during emergencies with the ability to trigger InformaCast alerts from Zoom Phone. You can also automatically receive an alert when 911 is called via Zoom Phone

Updates for Zoom Meetings include:

  • Enhanced virtual background management: For account owners and admins, who can now enable a setting that requires users to have a virtual background when their video is on. Admins can also remove default Zoom backgrounds and restrict users to company-approved backgrounds
  • Recording Highlights: Artificial intelligence will also now automatically highlight important parts of a meeting recorded in the cloud, allowing users to quickly navigate critical through information. Hosts have the option to adjust these highlights and create new clips
