Zoom has launched a new whiteboard designed to boost asynchronous collaboration.

The whiteboard is designed to be a virtual hub for teams, with functionality including sticky notes, commenting and virtual reality support.

Jeff Smith, Head of Zoom Rooms, said: β€œOne thing we’ve learned over the past 18 months is that you don’t have to be in person to collaborate effectively.

β€œIt’s persistent collaboration using powerful tools on any device, so your teams have the creative space to work together, wherever”

β€œAnd with the all-new Zoom Whiteboard, we’re further enabling teams to bring their ideas to life, no matter where they are.”

Zoom Whiteboard can be launched via both the Zoom client and through a web browser. It can also be used whilst in a Zoom Meeting or a Zoom Room.

Whiteboards can be shared via email and Zoom Chat, and can also be worked on from within the Chat interface.

Whiteboard features include:

  • The ability to attach sticky notes to the board for meetings or to highlight an idea or action
  • Comments that can be added to any part of a whiteboard and viewed all at once in a side panel
  • Version controls to manage the flow of information

The announcement came at the same time that Zoom revealed a partnership with Oculus. As part of the collaboration, Zoom Whiteboards will be integrated with Horizon Workrooms.
