Dacoda has announced the global release of a hardware-free digital signage solution called Signital.

The Icelandic software company has been developing the product for the past two years. It believes it will “redefine” the way businesses manage their digital displays.

Signital has already been in use in Iceland for several years by major national companies, including Olís and Hagkaup, providing a proven track record for the solution.

Júlíus Freyr Guðmundsson, Founder of Dacoda, anticipates Signital striking a chord with enterprises around the globe: “Our goal was to make digital signage accessible and efficient for any business, large or small.”

We believe Signital’s innovative approach will resonate with businesses globally, just as it has in Iceland.”

‘Cost-Effective Plug-and-Play Alternative’

According to Dacoda, the Signital display system’s unique feature is its lack of hardware requirements.

Traditional digital signage solutions are usually very expensive and require proprietary hardware.

Signital can reduce costs, however, by enabling any internet-connect display, such as an ordinary smart TV, to become a functional digital signage screen using the display’s built-in browser.

The company says Signital’s global rollout now makes it a strong competitor within the digital signage marketplace as the “cost-effective, plug-and-play alternative”.

Although Signital does not need external players, it is fully compatible with a long list of devices.

Signital is also suitable for shops, restaurants, offices, and other premises. It could display menus, special offers, birthday celebrations, event marketing, and more.

Dacoda points to four key features of the solution its hardware-free design, effortless multi-screen management across different locations, a user-friendly and cloud-based Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform, and instant scalability whether you want to use a single screen or hundreds.

In a recent Dacoda blog post, the company explains how it is making display solutions available to anyone with a television. You no longer need an expensive player:

Most of the display solutions available today require a heavy investment for businesses, often having to invest in expensive players and software to run content on billboards.”

“Signital is unique in the market as it works extremely well on any internet-connected TV, so there is no need to invest in expensive hardware in most cases.”

“If there is a specific need or company owns such equipment, Signital connects to a wide range of players and devices, including Samsung Smart TV, Tizen, Fire TV, PC, Android, BrightSign and Raspberry Pi.”
