These days, building a productivity-boosting meeting room requires a lot more than powerful collaboration software, microphones, and cameras. You also need a system that helps synchronize hybrid teams and enhance interactions, like the DTEN D7X.

This all-in-one, AI-powered display promises to take meetings into the future with its integrated microphone, camera, speaker, 4K image and integrated intelligent software.

Competing with advanced solutions like the Microsoft Surface Hub 3, this versatile screen has a lot to offer. I put one of these devices to the test, to help you decide if it’s right for your meeting room.

Quick Verdict, Pros and Cons

Overall, the D7X from DTEN is one of the most impressive displays for hybrid work I’ve tried. This all-in-one solution gives you everything you need for exceptional meetings, from built-in cameras and microphones to AI tools that boost clarity. It’s even certified for Zoom Rooms and Microsoft Teams.

However, it is a little pricier than some alternatives, and access to extra services like DTEN Orbit come with extra fees to consider.

Pros:

  • Certified for major meeting platforms
  • Integrated AI features
  • Powerful touchscreen technology
  • Included microphone, speaker, and camera
  • Exceptional visual fidelity
  • Fantastic management tools
  • Great for BYOD meetings

Cons:

  • Slightly expensive pricing
  • Certain services do cost extra

The DTEN D7X Display: Overview and Specs

The DTEN D7X is a true all-in-one display with a built-in 4K quality camera, sensational microphones, and a broad range of AI-powered features. It enables incredible touchscreen functionality, like the Avocor E-Series, and makes it simple to connect devices to the screen with wired or wireless options.

Available in 55” and 75” screen sizes, this solution is great for all kinds of meeting rooms. However, you will pay a little more for all the functionality. Prices start at around $4,500 for the smaller version, or $7,500 for the 75” option. Of course, this still means the D7X is cheaper than alternatives like the Surface Hub 3.

Here’s a quick overview of the specs:

  • Windows IoT and Android OS software
  • Multi-touch display (Ultra HD 4K)
  • Capacitive touchscreen with 20 touchpoints
  • 180 touch-point reporting
  • Integrated AI capabilities
  • 4K camera with infinite focus
  • PTZ and preset support
  • Intelligent framing capabilities
  • Integrated high-quality speakers
  • 15 microphone array

DTEN D7X Review: The Display and Touchscreen Capabilities

Let’s start by looking at the quality, and interactivity of the screen itself. The DTEN D7X offers an ultra HD 4K screen, powered by both Windows and Android operating systems. It excels at delivering crisp, clean imagery, with vivid colors. Plus, it has a wonderfully sleek and lightweight design, making it an excellent choice for any meeting room environment.

Where the DTEN DX7 screen really shines, however, is in its touchscreen abilities. More than just your standard interactive display, the DX7 provides users with a unique touchscreen experience. The 20 touchpoint capacity makes it exceptional at capturing minute details when you’re drawing on a digital whiteboard or annotating a document.

It also has a fantastic 50 MS response time and 180 touch-point reporting rate. What’s really impressive is that the AI software built into the display consistently improves the user experience. The AI system is tuned with a proprietary deep learning algorithm, making interactivity smoother than ever. The AI can even recognize shapes as you draw them, making them crisper and cleaner.

Integrated Cameras, Speakers, and Microphones

I think the addition of built-in cameras, speakers and microphones really makes a difference to a display experience for a hybrid meeting room. With the DTEN D7X, you don’t have to worry about connecting external devices to your screen – everything is already built in.

The quality of these features is fantastic too. The fixed-lens, 4K camera delivers an incredible 129 degree field of view, to ensure everyone in your meeting room is captured clearly. It also works seamlessly alongside the AI-powered features in popular tools. For instance, you can instantly access Zoom Rooms’ Smart Gallery feature, or Microsoft Teams’ Intelliframe tools. DTEN also has it’s own smart framing capabilities built-in too.

Speaking of AI, intelligent features also enhance the quality of the 15-microphone array in this display. The technology works behind the scenes to supress distracting sounds and ensure exceptional pickup for human voices. On top of that, the integrated speakers also deliver an impressive quality of sound. Ultimately, you get a fantastic all-in-one experience.

DTEN D7X: Collaboration and BYOD Features

Alongside the built-in microphone, camera, and speakers, the DTEN D7X also includes a few additional features to enhance collaboration. First, as mentioned above, it works seamlessly with all of the top meeting room solutions, including Microsoft Teams and Zoom.

Plus, it empowers hybrid workers to leverage their own devices during meetings easily. Users can bring their own device into a conference room and connect the system instantly with a single USB-C charging cable. There’s an HDMI ingest for multiple content sharing modes. Plus, you can take advantage of wireless proximity sharing capabilities or Bluetooth, too.

When you connect your device to the display, the touchback feature means you only have to tap on the D7X screen to access content on a laptop or smartphone. That means no walking back and forth between different devices as you work or present content.

Plus, the DTEN D7X can instantly connect with an additional screen, and gives you the freedom to control the content seamlessly between both options, so you can focus on webcam feeds on one screen, and show a whiteboard or document on another.

Endpoint Management and Services

DTEN gives companies a lot of control over their endpoints and devices – even allowing them to choose between different operating systems for the D7X display. However, if you want a more advanced experience, I’d definitely recommend signing up for DTEN Orbit.

The Orbit solution gives businesses access to a convenient unified dashboard in the cloud, where they can manage all of their endpoints, track device health, and monitor status. You can even use this dashboard to set up profiles for different users, and remotely control each display.

The “DTEN Orbit Mission Control” feature is a fantastic tool for gaining insights into potential issues with your technology. Plus, it helps you role firmware updates out to devices at speed. Alongside giving you more endpoint management features, the Orbit subscription also comes with a few additional bonuses. The free plan includes product training videos and 24/5 support.

Alternatively, the “Pro” plan offers access to extended warranties, remote device repair and management, advanced parts replacement, and a customer success manager. If you’re looking for extra peace of mind and expertise, then it’s well worth upgrading.

DTEN D7X Review: The Verdict

The DTEN D7X is one of the most impressive and intuitive meeting room displays I’ve tried so far. It’s incredibly feature-rich and flexible, packed with AI tools to help improve the quality of your meetings and enhance clarity.

If you’re looking for the ultimate addition to your Zoom Rooms or Microsoft Teams Rooms setup, the D7X is a fantastic choice. Its built-in camera, microphone, and speakers help you make the most of your meeting room real estate.

However, it is a little more expensive than some of the more simplistic displays on the market. If you’re looking for a straightforward touchscreen on a budget, this might not be the right device for you. Other than that, any company looking to elevate their meeting room experiences can definitely benefit from a device like the DTEN D7X.
