K-Array has been chosen to provide the Yacht Club de Monaco with a complete audio system.
The exclusive yacht club was searching for an audio system that would offer high-performance sound throughout various parts of the club, as well as solutions that would fit with the “prestigious” building and its high environmental quality (HEQ) approach.
With the help of the systems integrator BM Service, the sailing club was introduced to various new K-Array audio solutions, including Python, Kobra, Tornado, and Lyzard speakers, Thunder and Rumble subwoofers, Kommander amplifiers, and portable pinnacle sound systems.
Alberto Gaetti, Product Support Specialist at K-Array, outlined some of the project requirements:
Everything had to be invisible, stylish, yet high-performing, the usual values of K-array.”
“Our loudspeakers were previously installed at the club’s rooftop terrace, so the client was already pleased with our solutions.”
“The next step was to scale the audio system across other key spaces, including indoor and outdoor hospitality spaces, a meeting room and a swimming pool area.”
Gaetti continued: “Given the combination of both indoor and outdoor spaces, we were conscious in our design to integrate marine-grade products where necessary to ensure that the systems would be resistant to weather and humidity.”
K-Array’s Audio Makeover
K-Array had already proved its value via its six Python-KP102 and four Python-KP52 I loudspeakers, four Thunder-KS2P subwoofers and Kommander-KA208 amplifier, located in the rooftop bar.
According to K-Array, these have demonstrated their ability to produce a high sound pressure level (SPL) within a confined area while also reducing the level of sound that can be heard from outside.
The club’s Aquarama Riva Bar needed a system predominantly for background music, plus occasional presentations and parties.
It chose two units of Kobra-KK52 I, which are passive speakers comprising eight two-inch cone woofers, a Rumble-KU210 subwoofer, and a Kommander-KA24 amp.
The Cigar Lounge utilises four Lyzard-KZ1 mid-high micro-loudspeakers and a Rumble-KU44W-2 II subwoofer to complement the cosy and intimate setting.
The club’s restaurant, with views of the YCM Marina, implemented six Kobra-KK52W, eight Tornado-KT2 loudspeakers and ten Rumble-KU44 II subwoofers for high-quality background sound.
The outside restaurant, Sunrise Restaurant, integrated 11 Domino series loudspeakers with special marine finishes, capable of withstanding changing weather conditions throughout the year.
Weather-resistant loudspeakers made up of Domino and Tornado loudspeakers were also added to the Sportsbar.
The club’s Ballroom, where its a-list parties take place, opted for two Pinnacle-KR102, KR202, and KR402 combination systems for all-in-one sound solutions comprising Thunder subwoofers and Python or Kobra line array elements.
The Meeting Room area for presentations and conferences uses eight Thunder subwoofers and four Python-KP102 pure line arrays, which cover the complete vocal frequency range.
Finally, the club’s sundeck, which has a swimming pool and views of the marina, now hosts a high-performance Pinnacle system, which offers versatility and is “ideal” for pool parties.
Gaetti believes K-array was the right audio solutions provider for the job: “Working on a prestige project, such as at the Yacht Club de Monaco, is a pleasure.
Their requests for discreet yet powerful audio fit perfectly with the solutions we provide – indeed, our range of unique products excels in harmonising with various interior design and architectural considerations.”
“Furthermore, the IP-rating and weather-resistant finishes of our products are ideal for the marine environment at the YCM.”
He also explains why the Pinnacle speakers are such a success: “The column array loudspeakers within the self-powered Pinnacle systems offer great performance and easy setup.”
“Their ultra-slimline form factor makes them unobtrusive, whilst the interconnecting units allow the team at Yacht Club de Monaco to change the angles of each element, giving them the option to adjust the system for different events in the Ballroom.”
Last month, K-Array and KGEAR supplied the “oldest” fixed circus in Europe, Riga Circus, with new audio solutions.
The month before, September, saw K-Array upgrade the audio infrastructure of the luxury Italian hotel Portrait Milano.
