Planar has announced the next generation of its CarbonLight LED display series with advanced AV capabilities.

The next generation of Planar’s CarbonLight CLI Series indoor LED video wall displays features an updated cabinet design and is designed to deliver enhanced visual performance. This upgraded line of lightweight LED displays strengthens Planar’s support for a wide range of apps, including rental and staging, in-camera virtual production, extended reality, and on-camera broadcast.

“The new Planar CarbonLight CLI Series builds on the success of the previous generation, now offering customers elevated visual performance and a new carbon fibre design optimised to reduce weight, increase durability and ease of installation,” commented Robert Detwiler, Senior Director of Product Management and Training at Planar.

Our latest enhancements to the Planar CarbonLight family are tailored to the needs of temporary and live events, reducing complexity of video wall setup and delivering reliable, stunning, seamless visual presentation when the show must go on.”

Planar outlines that these enhancements expand its portfolio of cutting-edge visualisation technologies, aiming to offer superior imagery, flexibility, and seamless installation, teardown, and maintenance. The company says this reinforces its ability to meet customer demand across various fixed or temporary event applications.

The next-generation Planar CarbonLight CLI Series and the new Planar CarbonLight CLM Series model are now shipping through Planar’s global network of authorised resellers.

More Information On The New Displays

Planar says the CarbonLight CLI Series now delivers excellent video performance with up to twice the improvement in scan and refresh rates, enhanced grayscale, and an upgraded brightness of up to 1,500 nits. A new 500×1000 cabinet size has been added to the existing 500×500 size to enable faster setup and teardown of video walls when paired with the series’ rapid-mounting hardware.

Planar also suggests customers benefit from up to 19 percent weight savings, with cabinets weighing as little as 4.3kg while still offering strength to support hanging or stacking installations up to 20m tall and 1,000kg in weight. The new displays are available in 1.9, 2.6, 2.9, and 3.5-mm pixel pitches. For apps requiring 1.5 or 5.2-mm pixel pitches, Planar says the previous generation of the CarbonLight CLI Series is still available for order.

The Planar CarbonLight CLI Series is pitched as offering versatile installation options, including hanging, wall mounting, or free-standing setups. Its 30-degree bevelled edges allow for video walls on curved surfaces and acute angles. Planar adds that with improved thermal management and toolless installation, the series also supports front and rear maintenance for efficient setup and teardown.

The new 5.9-mm pixel pitch model joins the Planar CarbonLight CLM Series, which features both transparent and non-transparent carbon fibre structures for unique viewing experiences at indoor and outdoor events. Planar suggests the CLM Series supports fast installation and maintenance with Planar CarbonLight bracketry, allowing smooth display removal or installation without disrupting the layout. Available in 6.9 and 10.9mm pixel pitches, all models are IP65-rated for outdoor protection.
