More specifically, the new audio products were installed within the museum’s Immersive Technology Experience Centre (ITEC), which was created by the event technologies and services provider, d&b group.
The multi-room hub offers visitors immersive experiences and sensory engagement via virtual reality (VR), extended reality (XR), spatial audio, and virtual production technologies.
Acting on behalf of the museum, d&b group decided on Sennheiser and Neumann’s audio technology to fulfil its “future vision of immersive experiences”.
George Veys, Head of Audio at d&b solutions, explains why he selected Sennheiser and Neumann’s audio products: “Choosing high-quality, reliable equipment that is suitable for both broadcast applications and R&D purposes was vital for ITEC.
“Neumann KH 120 monitors are the gold standard for us. It was an easy decision to use them here, and our team have loved mixing on them!
“Our customers’ work ranges from live sports broadcasts and university lectures to high-level corporate presentations.
Veys continues:
The combination of Sennheiser’s market-leading reliability and product flexibility helps us effectively address all these markets, making it the obvious choice as one of our key audio partners for the ITEC facility.”
‘The Gold Standard’
Sennheiser’s Digital 6000 system has been introduced to the Immersive Sound and Vision Lab, which includes an XR studio.
According to Veys, the D6000 system provides “flawless” quality audio, as well as handling the presenter microphones.
The evolution wireless G4 IEM systems reportedly run alongside the Digital 6000 to bring ‘interruptible foldback audio’ to presenters. This allows remote guests to be transferred to d&b’s VR technology stack for immersive broadcast content, SmartStage solution.
Meanwhile, the broadcast audio control room enables live audio and streaming, into which d&b integrated “the gold standard”, Neumann KH 120 monitors.
Sennheiser has provided d&b with continued support throughout the process. In fact, just a few weeks ago, some of d&b’s engineers visited Sennheiser’s new offices in Marlow.
Veys pointed out that building relationships such as this are critical to ensuring optimal product performance. Sennheiser’s proficiency at this, he believes, is the reason why it “remains at the top of its game”.
Kevin Gwyther-Brown, Sennheiser’s Business Development Manager, gave his feedback on the ITEC immersive experience project: “We’re thrilled to be collaborating with d&b on this fantastic, multi-faceted space that encompasses all the latest technologies.
We believe that ITEC will serve as an ideal platform for d&b stakeholders and the broader community to explore the full creative potential of immersive environments, with our high-quality Sennheiser and Neumann solutions playing a vital role in enabling them.”
In a related press release, Sennheiser revealed that since ITEC officially opened in April, there has been lots of positive feedback regarding the benefits it has created for d&b’s investors worldwide.
Moreover, it views ITEC as a space where d&b can test ideas with its latest sound, lighting, video, and multi-media technologies.
Similarly, ITEC is effectively a research and development facility, bringing together various technologies from multiple manufacturers to test integrations and ideas while also hosting educational initiatives.
