The Unified Communications and telecom industry is no stranger to rumours. There seems to be a constant stream of possible acquisitions and sales being discussed at any giving moment, and right now, the focus is on Daisy Group, a telecoms and cloud computing giant.

According to a report issued by Sky News, Daisy is currently preparing to appoint new investment bankers over the next few weeks, to help them handle the process of selling their company – a procedure that will begin within the first half of 2018. However, following the announcement by Sky, Daisy have remained mysteriously tight-lipped about the potential investment, refusing to provide any clear insight into whether they’re selling or not.

The Growing Speculation around the Daisy Group Sale

Sky News claims that it got its information from “insiders” in the company, who suggested that the telecoms and cloud company would be exploring some significant interest from international IT firms and financial investors. In the past, rumours have surfaced around the idea that companies like Liberty Global and Vodafone may be looking to make a bid on the growing brand.

It’s easy to see what would make Daisy such a powerful acquisition for any IT or Telecoms company today. Since it was founded in 2001, Daisy has seen some incredible growth, from a plucky SMB telecoms provider, into a huge £700m-revenue solution for cloud and communications, thanks to the acquisition of various companies like Alternative Networks, Pheonix IT, and Damovo.

This isn’t the first time that gossip around Daisy’s position has hit the marketplace. Ever since the firm was taken private by Matthew Riley, the company founder, towards the start of 2015, people have been speculating on what the future holds for the business.

Daisy Is Staying Silent

Unfortunately, it appears we can’t rely on Daisy to give us any clarity about the rumours. A spokesman for the company recently sent a statement to CRN saying that they were not willing to comment on any speculation around the business. The statement went on to outline that Daisy is still a privately-owned business, and the management team is focused on building the position of the brand as the largest independent provider in the UK for cloud, IT and business communications.

Recently, Daisy has seen some fantastic growth. Alongside their recent acquisition of the Alternative Networks company, which super-charged the mid-market branch of the company, the SMB side of the business has also begun to grow.

During an interview with CRN towards the beginning of 2017, Neil Muller, the CEO of the company, said that the business would be moving back from the M&A trial, as they now had everything they need for reliable, organic growth.
