Squigl is an AI-powered video creation software that turns text and basic audio into full-fledged video learning content. The company was established in 2017 and primarily caters to the education sector. However, in May of 2021, Squigl announced the availability of the Squigl for an Enterprise solution, which would allow HR departments and L&D teams to gain from the tool.

Squigl heavily relies on Microsoft technology for its AI features. It is a Microsoft for Startups portfolio company (2017-2020 batch) and uses Azure Cognitive Services, Azure Active Directory, Microsoft Graph, and Azure AI to generate video content from text and audio. It is also a certified Microsoft partner.

Squigl announced the general availability of the Squigl bot for Teams in 2019. Teams users can initiate new Squigl projects without leaving the Teams platform. It can transform text you have typed inside of Teams into videos, complete with a shareable link. In other words, you could type in the learning content within the Microsoft Teams environment, and the Squigl bot will use AI to create a shareable learning video.

The bot also enables interoperability with the main Squigl platform so you can access your Squigl content directly from Teams. Let us review it in detail.

Inside Squigl for Microsoft Teams

To install Squigl in Microsoft Teams, visit Microsoft AppSource and look for the Squigl Teams Bot. You can also open the application store from your Microsoft Teams platform and find Squigl. Keep in mind that you will need a Squigl subscription to be able to use the integration, particularly for accessing your recent projects and to start new ones.

Squigl is custom priced, depending on your enterprise size and use case.

Here are the key features that you can expect with Squigl for Teams:

  • The Squigl Teams Bot – After you install the app, the Squigl Teams Bot will greet you and provide you with clickable buttons to perform common Squigl functions. You can ask the bot to show you your recent projects, start a new one, or choose from the other simple commands that the bot can understand.
  • Navigate to the Squigl platform – You can use the app to navigate to Squigl from Microsoft Teams quickly. Open the Squigl app and type in any of these two commands when interacting with the bot: “Go to Squigl website” or “Go to Squigl application.” The bot will then automatically redirect you to the relevant platform.
  • Recent project access – This feature makes finding and sharing content from Squigl in Teams easier. If you have an active Squigl account and have wrecked on multiple projects, you can retrieve the project content directly from Microsoft Teams. Type in the number of projects you want to recover, along with the Bot command – e.g., “3 Most Recent Projects.” the bot will fetch and show you the information so you can directly share it with another user or a channel.
  • Account actions – The Squigl app for Teams also lets you perform simple account actions from Teams. You can type in “logout” while interacting with the Squigl Teams Bot to log out of your Squigl account without switching platforms.
  • New project creation – This is the flagship capability enabled by the Squigl Teams app. You can convert text that you type into the Teams’ message compose area into a video experience. Type in “Start New Project” when interacting with the bot. Squigl will ask you to enter the project’s name and the project script. Depending on your text, the app will apply neuroscientific principles to find keywords in the narrative, create animated images, and finalise a video without requiring design expertise.
  • Content shareability – You can share videos created on Squigl without visiting the Squigl SaaS platform. After you have typed in the project name and script, it will perform the text-to-video conversion and respond with a shareable link to your completed project. You can directly use this link to present the content without switching applications or opening Squigl.

Why the Squigl App Makes a Difference

Squigl makes it dramatically easy to create video content from scratch. It has many use cases across your enterprise, from HR to L&D and even for brainstorming sessions.

What We Think

While Squigl is implemented as a custom-priced enterprise solution, it could be a handy addition for companies of every size.
