Trivie is a workplace gamification and learning management app for Teams. It allows you to convert static training content into interactive games and quizzes, making the learning experience more engaging for employees.
Trivie was founded in 2011 and recently received a fresh shot in the form of $5 million in Series A funding in 2020. Trivie has raised a total of $16.6 million as of date and continues to develop the platform for broader integration, easier customisation, and more analytics. Indeed, these three aspects set Trivie apart from some of the other learning gamification apps available today. It integrates with all significant LMS/LXP systems, you can import third-party content, or you can customise/build from scratch. Trivie uses over 200 KPIs to measure learning progress and employee engagement. You will also receive timely recommendations explaining the reasons for a particular trend.
Importantly, Trivie is built on proven scientific theories in cognitive psychology, memory and retention. The company collaborated with experts in these fields to design algorithms and learning experiences that leverage the technique of “retrieval practice.” This technique implies that regular and spaced-out reinforcement of the learning material can help to counter the inevitable effects of the forgetting curve. That’s why Trivie users remember over 90% of the training 12 months later, compared to how 80% of learnt information is typically lost in the first 30 days.
Trivie launched its Microsoft Teams integration in April 2021. Let us review it in detail.
Inside Trivie for Teams
To use the Trivie Teams app, you will need a Trivie account. Pricing starts at $499 per month for 100 users, which gives you access to all of Trivie’s features. Trivie gets increasingly more affordable as you scale, which is why it is a preferred solution for larger enterprises like McDonald’s and Subway. Trivie customers can head to Microsoft AppSource to download the integration. You can also visit the application store in Teams to install Trivie in your Teams platform. Here are the features to expect:
- The Trivie channel tab – The Trivie Teams app primarily operates through the channel tab feature. You can pin Trivie as a persistent tab on a channel of your choice, and channel members can tune in anytime to browse the library of available quizzes, browse topics, and complete challenges to earn points.
- Quiz snapshots – Teams users can see a brief snapshot of available quizzes without switching platforms. The Trivie app displays a list of cards containing the quiz title, the number of questions, and the quiz availability – i.e., the deadline by which it has to be completed. These cards also highlight new quizzes that have been added by HR or the learning manager so that employees can quickly navigate to quizzes they are yet to complete.
- Trivie quiz library search – Teams users can find and retrieve specific quizzes using the search function. Click on the search bar on the Trivie Teams app and type in the quiz name, the broad topic, or any other search query. Employees can open a quiz directly on the Teams app and enter the response.
- Multi-format challenges – The Trivie Teams app introduces various functionalities and features in Teams. You can enjoy the traditional quiz format and drive employee learning through intelligent boosters, interactive discussions, and Trivie-specific resources directly inside the Microsoft Teams environment.
- Learning analytics – Trivie provides detailed insights on quiz completion, learner progress, and leaderboard ranking. You can use the app’s gamification features to boost engagement in your team and incorporate an element of social learning into your remote/hybrid work culture.
Why the Trivie App Makes a Difference
Trivie’s biggest USP is that it is built on a bedrock of scientific and field-tested methodology that’s proven to improve knowledge retention. Also, you can repurpose your existing knowledge assets through Trivie quizzes, whether you do it yourself or use Trivie’s knowledge extraction AI to have Trivie experts create the quizzes for you. Finally, the app’s proprietary AI engine will personalise the “proficiency map” for each employee so you can share targeted quizzes to pre-empt the forgetting curve.
