The Plantronics Blackwire 500 series is the California-based audio communications developer’s latest range of corded USB headsets designed to deliver impeccable audio quality and improve the efficiency of users in a wide number of different environments.

Offering premium hi-fi stereo audio and an abundance of high-end features, the Blackwire 500 series claims to provide a comfortable and efficient communications solution that helps users reach the best of their potential during every call – but how much truth is there in these claims?

In order to find out, we’ve decided to do a review on the product and test how well it lives up to Plantronics’ sterling reputation as one of the world’s leading producers of high quality audio equipment.

How does it look?

Plantronics Blackwire C510 – Rich in features that help boost user productivity and efficiency during every call

Sharp and sleek in design, the Blackwire 500 series is available in both monaural (C510) and stereo (C520) models, each of which feature a comfort padded headband and plush, foldable ear cushions that make the headset a joy to wear and easy to store when not in use.

What can it do?

Featuring Plantronics’ Smart Sensor Technology, the Blackwire 500 series headset enables users to quickly answer calls simply by putting on the headset and can save businesses and their employs valuable time when starting or ending a call.

With a PC wideband, noise-cancelling microphone and HiFi stereo sound (C520), the Blackwire 500 series delivers outstanding audio quality and is a valuable tool to have for boosting user performance in conference calls, webinars and remote working environments.

In terms of mobility, the foldable design makes the Blackwire 500 series easy for users to carry around with them from place to place and each headset comes complete with its own carry case to protect it from damage when travelling.

When used in partnership with Plantronics Spokes software, the Blackwire 500 series also offers call control access across multiple softphones, UC presence and a headset control panel that features fully customisable settings to suit the preferences of each individual user.

What did we like most?

One of the main disadvantages of working outside of an office space is the lack of control over disruptive noises. Thankfully, with the Blackwire 500 series noise cancelling microphone technology, calls made in noisy non-business environments can continue without interruption and all calls can be made with confidence that the receiver will hear what is being said with absolute clarity.

Who is it for?

The Planatonics Blackwire 500 is a very versatile series that has the added benefit of being less expensive than some of the Bluetooth enabled models. Though it does rely on a USB wired connection to transmit calls, the superior sound quality maximum comfort makes it a more than suitable solution for any regular softphone or desktop phone user.
