Avaya has won double at the UC Awards 2021, driven by its innovation in artificial intelligence (AI).

The vendor took home the Best Use of AI gong for its Spaces workstream collaboration solution, while it also won Best CPaaS Solution for Avaya OneCloud CPaaS.

Spaces combined video, chat, document repository and task management, with AI-based features including multiple speaker video overlay and noise cancellation.

Simon Harrison, Chief Marketing Officer at Avaya, said:

“Avaya Spaces and Avaya OneCloud CPaaS provide incredible value and deliver exceptional communications and collaboration capabilities to customers as part of our Avaya OneCloud AI-powered experience platform”

“Both serve as key enabling solutions for the composable enterprise adapting to new ways of work and engaging with customers.

“We’re pleased to receive this recognition for Avaya innovation, and we will continue to build the best solutions for our customers and partners.”

Avaya’s noise cancellation featured heavily in the vendor’s entry for the Best Use of AI award.

The feature uses AI to learn how to separate speech from other noise in a way that no other company is doing, Avaya said.

The AI can make multiple speakers in different locations sound as if they are in the same place, even if they are using mobile devices. Avaya said it presents the separate streams as a virtual panel that is simulating reality.

Avaya Spaces uses NVIDIA GPUs on Google Cloud to enable faster processing power for AI, avoiding the need for users to download any AI-related software. This means the platform can be run effectively on low-power devices, and also allows for scalability.

Avaya said that the composable nature of its architecture means its APIs can be used anywhere in the world to quickly integrate a wide range of AI insights and processes.

On the CPaaS side, Avaya says that its OneCloud CPaaS is the force multiplier of the Avaya OneCloud experience platform for both UCaaS and CCaaS.

“Avaya’s unique approach to CPaaS enable us to deliver new CPaaS experiences to customers in a matter of days – which was essential in saving lives during the pandemic,” Avaya said.

Rob Scott, Publisher at UC Today, added: “If data is the new oil then AI is the refinery turning all of that oil into myriad products that we can use in our daily lives.

“Avaya was able to evidence innovation, growth and success with their API-centric proposition, and a composable approach that enables users to innovate faster.

“Avaya OneCloud CPaaS is going a long way to enhance not only customer experience but also workforce productivity, and highlights Avaya’s impressive cloud transformation”
