Over the last week, we’ve shared plenty of exciting updates on everything from the latest features of Microsoft Teams to the arguments between Zoom and Zapier.

If you haven’t had a chance to check out our top stories from the last seven days, don’t worry. Here are some of the most important reports you can’t afford to miss.

Microsoft Teams Releases November Updates

Microsoft Teams is at the top of the pile for enterprise tools for collaboration these days. With more than 115 million daily active users as of the most recent count, the solution is more popular than ever. Of course, Microsoft isn’t one to rest on its laurels. The organisation is constantly rolling out new updates and improvements to make your Teams experience even better.

This November, the Recording and Contact Centre API were removed from the Advanced Communications License, and Teams offline mode was introduced. We also saw the arrival of various new features like 1080p outgoing video for Android, and Microsoft Teams native apps for ARM64. Check out our full discussion of the latest features here.

Access Microsoft Teams Meetings Free for a Year

Need more help staying connected in these troubled times? No problem. Microsoft Teams has you covered. For a full year, customers on Microsoft Teams will be able to join meetings via a free call-in number, thanks to a recent offer from the company. The deal is available right now, and it’s going to be accessible until the 31st of March 2021.

Attendees will be able to jump into your Microsoft Teams meeting wherever they are, using a dial-in number that’s globally available. This is excellent for any employees that need to be part of the conversation, but don’t have an internet connection. If you decline the free offer, there’s no negative impact to your organisation – but we can’t imagine why anyone would say no. You can learn more about the details of the offer here.

Zapier Sues Zoom Over Zapps

As part of the annual Zoomtopia event, Zoom recently announced the arrival of Zapps. These are apps that would allow third-party developers to create and distribute apps that support the Zoom meeting experience. The new “Zapps” were ready to make their way onto the Zoom platform by the end of this year, with various launch partners like Slack and Dropbox already confirmed.

Unfortunately, Zoom’s Zapps could end up on-hold thanks to a law-suit from Zapier. Zapier says that the Zoom name of “Zapps” is way too similar to the “Zaps” that Zapier offers for third-party integrations. Zapier also claimed that Zoom was 100% aware that they were already using Zap and Zaps in its branding. Find out everything you need to know about the lawsuit here.
