Cisco has opened a second data centre in the UK to enhance Webex Calling in the region and across the globe.
Cisco states that this expansion will benefit enterprise customers and partners in the UK by bolstering services while fulfilling compliance requirements to address ongoing regulatory demands. The new centre intends to support Webex Callingβs cloud calling services to over 15 million users across more than 170 nations.
Amey Parandekar, VP of Product Management at Cisco, said:
Weβre delighted to be bringing our Webex Calling services closer to customers and partners with the addition of a new data centre in the UK. The continued expansion of the Webex platform allows customers to meet evolving regulatory and compliance requirements and demonstrates our commitment to driving continuous service enhancements for our global Webex Calling customer base.β
Ciscoβs new Webex Calling UK data centre is based in Manchester and aims to complement the existing facility in London. Both UK data centres support multi-tenant and Dedicated Instance deployment models for Webex Calling. This second data centreβs addition ensures that active and redundant calling media and signalling data remain within the UK region.
The Manchester data centre will assist Webex Calling customers in both commercial and enterprise markets. It will also serve regulated industries such as finance and government, which require calling (media and signalling) data to remain within the UK.
The recent launch of Ciscoβs second UK data centre follows its establishment of media Points of Presence (PoPs) in the United Arab Emirates, Brazil, and South Korea. Over the next year, the company plans to expand its data centre footprint further to bolster service for its global Webex Calling user base.
