Mark Bunnell, Chief Operator Officer at Nuwave, said the biggest challenge for resellers, systems integrators and managed service providers is staying relevant in a world where enterprises can buy cloud services directly from the likes of Cisco and Microsoft.

“The days of complex implementations and charging big fees… those days are gone; customers aren’t willing to pay it.”

“One of our SI partners was wrestling with this and decided to switch from charging upfront fees to focusing on monthly recurring revenue. That’s one of the main issues that partners are coming across and that we help solve.”

Turning Aging Hardware into Opportunities

Jonathan McCormack, Chief Operating Officer at Intermedia, said the biggest opportunity for channel partners centres on the hundreds of millions of on-premises seats that are ripe for cloud migration.

“We are in the very early innings of this massive migration,” he told UC Today. “This is a huge opportunity for all of our partners and there are big trends that are driving that.”

“I mentioned the aging technology… there’s also this hybrid work [and] there’s increasing demands around customer satisfaction and then obviously the AI story is evolving with ChatGPT.”

“We’re going to see more change in the next two years than we did in the last 20, and to take advantage of all those things partners need to be up in the cloud.”
