Improved clarity, more consistent speech levels and enhanced intelligibility are among the advances made by Shure’s latest firmware for its Stem Ecosystem audio solutions. The latest release, Firmware v2.5, has resulted from Shure’s extensive tuning and refining of the Stem audio components which have been tested at the company’s certified acoustic labs. Both improved audio quality and acoustic performance have been achieved for the Stem Ecosystem which offers a customisable and flexible audio solution that is simple to set up and optimise to meet the requirements of any room.
“In recent firmware updates, we improved the installation and set up experience of Stem solutions and the reliability of products already in the field,” said Luis Guerra, Associate Director of Global Product Management for the Stem Ecosystem, at Shure. “This new update provides substantial improvements in acoustic performance and audio quality.”
The firmware updates offer ceiling mounted devices improved array performance with greater sensitivity and sound quality to deliver better pick-up of voices and better rejection of room noise and reverberation. In addition, the firmware enables a readjusted pick-up pattern to better match customer selection for narrow, medium, and wide beams.
For wall mounted devices, the improvements have adjusted devices’ playback speaker levels and tone for high quality reproduction of speech and other material in order to achieve increased intelligibility during calls. The microphone array has also been tuned for richer tonality and voice pick-up so users experience warmer interactions.
For speakers, Shure has calibrated woofer and tweeter levels resulting in improvements to playback sound quality while balancing the device output levels with the rest of the ecosystem, delivering even coverage in rooms with multiple Stem components. For table-based devices, the release offers fine-tuned playback and microphone pick-up that offers a better experience for meeting participants thanks to improved double-talk performance.
For users of Stem Ecosystem devices connected to a network, all of these features will be immediately available thanks to Stem devices’ auto-update capability. This allows devices with internet access that are on default settings to perform the latest available update automatically overnight. Additional improvements include enhanced echo cancelling and system sounds, such as the push-button chime level being reduced to offer a more pleasant user experience.
“We care about enabling our customers to create meeting spaces where they don’t even have to think about the audio because it just works, regardless of the environment,” continued Guerra. “We are confident that the enhanced audio performance featured in this update will have an encouraging and positive impact on our customers’ experiences in their meeting spaces.”
