Unified communications provider Solar Communications has announced the acquisition of Burnley-based Mitel specialist Denwa Limited for an undisclosed fee.
The deal involves Denwa’s customers and people joining the Solar Team, strengthening Solar’s appetite for further growth in the UC sector.
The acquisition comes shortly after Solar announced the takeover of Response Data Communications (RDC) in July 2016. Solar CEO, John Whitty has said that they are looking out for more complimentary companies to buy in 2017.
The enhanced portfolio offers increased choice to the customers of both businesses, allowing them to take advantage of new and innovative capabilities across a range of leading edge technologies, including SD WAN, Contact Centre, On-site and Cloud Storage and a wide range of business-enhancing solutions.
Founded in 2006 by Rob Scott, Denwa has gone from strength to strength in the Mitel channel and it’s no surprise they were an attractive purchase for Solar. Post-deal and handover period, Rob Scott will be leaving the company to pursue other interests.
In recognising the capabilities of the joint organisation, Mitel has awarded ‘Gold Solutions Partner’ status to the Solar Group. Together with Solar’s existing ‘Gold Cloud Solutions’ accreditation, this further demonstrates the organisation’s position as a leading provider of cloud, onsite and hybrid UC solutions in the UK.
John Whitty CEO of Solar Communications, said:
“This latest and exciting addition to Solar Group comes on the back of July’s acquisition of RDC. The timely and successful integration of RDC allows for further acquisitions to support the Group strategy, allowing Solar to address the under-served mid-market with innovative and value-enhancing capabilities, both organically and via strategic acquisition.
“Denwa is a proven service-focused business with a very strong reputation in serving SMB and mid-market business customers.
“We have spent the last 12 months focusing on an investment plan that ensures our business processes and systems can support our appetite for growth and development, ensuring they are capable of delivering excellent service to our clients. Alongside this, the recruitment of an extremely experienced and highly motivated executive team provides a strong platform for Solar to address the significant opportunity available.”
Rob Scott founder and MD of Denwa, said:
“The Denwa team spent the last 12 years building and developing a strong company and service offering and have had the pleasure of working with some great customers. With Solar’s strong portfolio and service-led culture I am sure that the business will go from strength to strength.”
Started in 1998 by Mark Colquhoun, Solar Communications is a UK wide provider of unified communications solutions to SMB’s and mid-market. Combined revenues are now approximately £20m with offices in Chippenham, Manchester and London. Solar predominately sell cloud and on-premise Mitel, Avaya and ShoreTel UC solutions.
This is the third acquisition for Solar, earlier in 2013 they acquired Armstrong Communications based in Salford Quays, Manchester.
The newly formed senior management team seem in-gear and all set for further growth in 2017. Recently CFO Andrew Marshall from Azzurri joined Solar and industry leaders Ben Marnham and Jeremy Millward also joined the boardroom table.
It looks like exciting times ahead at Solar.
