Soluno has a stronghold on the European market, Northern Europe in particular, but it recently moved into the UK and works with Trust Distribution. I sat down with Jonathan Rigg, Director of Network Services, Trust Distribution, to discuss how they and Soluno plan to serve the UK market along with Mitel and its technology.
Soluno has been a Mitel partner since 2006 and builds telephony along with collaboration integrations with Mitel products. Trust has long had a relationship with Mitel, too, and is Mitel’s biggest distributor in the UK for the past decade. Rigg told me, Trust wanted to take things to the next level in the UK by offering a robust set of cloud services and features such as analytics and other useful features to keep companies compliant with GDPR.
“We distribute the whole range of premises-based equipment as well as the Soluno cloud platform.” Rigg shared that Trust Distribution wanted to leverage this experience in selling hardware by supplementing its one-time revenue streams with a steadier flow of recurring revenue. This is where Soluno comes into play.
“We wanted to find a partner to realise a range of cloud-based telephony and collaboration tools in the UK market, and Soluno has been in that arena since 2006, which gives them a lot of weight in the cloud community”
According to Statista, revenue in the public cloud segment could reach over $12.3 billion in 2020. The largest subsegment is Infrastructure-as-a-Service, which has a projected market value of over $1.56 billion in 2020. The market’s revenue should also see exponential growth and could reach an annual growth rate from now until 2025 of 21 percent. This data suggests this would make the market worth almost $4 billion by the year 2025.
Trust Distribution has a vast knowledge of the UK market, which caused Soluno to adjust its technology to suit that market’s needs. As such, Soluno’s made it simpler to deploy desk phones since this is important in the UK. Soluno has also built a self-service portal, added call recordings functionalities, analytics, and automatic billing options to appease UK enterprises.

“Trust Distribution is a carrier and manages all traffic connected to our Soluno service, meaning that we host all our numbers. Soluno’s commercial model allows us to provide our own commercial packaging to the market.” Notwithstanding having launched in the middle of the Coronavirus pandemic, the duo says they have seen an increasing demand from both end-customers and channel partners over the past eleven months.
An O’Reilly survey of close to 1,300 respondents revealed that higher than 88 percent of the poll’s respondents use cloud-based technology in one form or another, with most organisations stating they expect to grow their cloud usage over the next 12 months, something that should give the partners hope when it comes to capturing even more of the UK market with its cloud-based telephony and collaboration technologies.
