We’ve seen a lot of consolidation and ambitious growth in the UK telecom sector in the past few years, here’s the highlights from 2016 in order of approximate deal size (if we’ve missed any out then please comment and we’ll add it in, note that we’ve had to guess at some due to undisclosed sums):

- Further to BT‘s offer to acquire EE in 2015, the deal finally went through in January 2016. EE was acquired for a whopping £12.5 billion! Hats off to BT , you made number one spot in 2016.
- Daisy acquired Alternative Networks for £180 million and also loss making Damovo UK for an undisclosed sum
- Maintel acquired Azzurri for £48.5 million
- Wavenet acquired by Beech Tree Private Equity for £35 million
- GCI acquired Outsourcery and Packet Media
- AdEPT Telecom plc Acquires Comms Group UK Limited for £3.5m
- AdEPT Telecom Plc acquires Cat Communications Ltd for circa £2 million
- Chess acquired Lanway (ICT company) for an undisclosed sum
- Solar acquired RDS and Mitel specialist Denwa for an undisclosed sum
- Nycomm Group acquired Pennine Telecom / Yealink UK Ltd
- Elite Telecom acquired NetCentrix Limited and SystemHOST Limited
- Pinnacle acquired adept4
- Chess acquires Pinnacle CDT from Pinnacle Technology Group plc
- PRS Telecom announce acquisition of DS Chiltern for an undisclosed sum
