Texas State Aquarium is now using Spectrum Enterprise UC with RingCentral to improve wildlife rescue operations and veterinary care.
Spectrum has doubled the bandwidth capacities of the aquarium’s current Fibre Internet Access connections to meet the changing demands and ensure that its infrastructure is scalable for the future.
The solution will enable employees to respond to public calls, including urgent requests for wildlife rescues.
The upgraded internet bandwidth will also allow employees to perform tasks that require heavy data usage, such as veterinary readouts, monitoring sea turtle migration, and reporting water quality.
Jesse Gilbert, President and Chief Executive Officer, Texas State Aquarium, said: “Our mammal, bird, and marine life exhibits are enjoyed by more than 500,000 visitors each year, and we recently opened the largest wildlife rescue centre in Texas.
“The connectivity and communications technology solutions provided by Spectrum Enterprise are critical for supporting our state-of-the-art veterinary equipment and emergency operations centre.
“The communications platform enables callers to reach out to our rescue operations team to report stranded and injured animals, and the expanded bandwidth and internet speed allow us to easily use data-intensive equipment, like a CAT scan, to share images with veterinary experts anywhere in the world.”
What is Spectrum Enterprise UC with RingCentral?
Spectrum Enterprise UC with RingCentral is a cloud-based service that incorporates Spectrum’s Managed Network Edge through the Cisco Meraki platform, or Enterprise Network Edge, powered by Fortinet.
The solution provides organisations with reliable network connections and complete visibility into operations.
UC with RingCentral was launched in November 2022, when Charter Communications formed a strategic partnership with RingCentral.
Charter Communications, a leading broadband connectivity company that brands its services as Spectrum, brought its high-speed internet and network technology, while RingCentral added its MVP platform.
The result was a comprehensive communications platform that Spectrum could offer to its enterprise clients and small to medium-sized business customers.
These businesses will then be able to connect with their customers, employees, partners, and suppliers from any location and device.
RingCentral has introduced hundreds of new features over the past year, including AI Advanced Meeting Insights, advanced analytics, and over 500 APIs, which Spectrum’s customers will be able to utilise to support their operations and growth.
Dino Perone, Group Vice President, Mid-Market for Spectrum Enterprise, commented: “A reliable internet connection and a flexible, easy-to-use communications platform are prerequisites for most businesses, but these take on an even more critical role for organizations like the Texas State Aquarium that depend on these tools to keep wildlife safe.
“Our unified communications solution allows the Texas State Aquarium to manage its communications platform, users, and devices from any location at any time so that staff can easily collaborate with each other and stay in touch with the public while on the go or when hurricanes or tropical storms threaten normal operations.”
Spectrum describes itself as a “national provider of scalable, fibre technology solutions” for some of the USA’s biggest organisations and communications service providers.
In May 2023, Spectrum partnered with Cisco to enhance cybersecurity for businesses, adding Cisco Duo to Secure Access and Cisco+ Secure Connect to Cloud Security.
A month earlier, in April 2023, Spectrum formed a partnership with Webex to provide USA mid-market and enterprise businesses with a complete UC solution by combining its fibre networking expertise with Cisco’s collaboration technology.
