Zoom has been named Mitelâs new exclusive UCaaS partner after the latter ended its exclusivity relationship with RingCentral.
Zoom and Mitel have announced a significant strategic partnership to deliver AI-powered UC for enterprises. As a cornerstone of the agreement, Zoom will be Mitelâs exclusive UCaaS offering within its overall UC portfolio. This follows the end of a similar Mitel exclusive UCaaS partnership with RingCentral last month.
The partnership involves delivering a hybrid cloud product utilising Zoom Workplace and Zoom AI Companion to complement Mitelâs leading communications platform for an advanced, integrated comms experience.
âAs organisations continue to prioritise hybrid UC deployments, it is critical that users across the globe have access to AI-first, reliable, and seamless collaboration solutions,â said Eric Yuan, Founder and CEO of Zoom. âTogether, Zoom and Mitel are now able to address the largest segment of todayâs communications market, particularly in EMEA, strengthening growth potential and enabling more users worldwide to reimagine the ways in which they work.â
Like Zoom, Mitel has a customer-first approach where providing a best-in-class, collaborative working environment is of the utmost importance. I look forward to watching this partnership progress and continuing to work closely with Mitel to meet the evolving needs of our users.â
The partnership aims to meet the increasing enterprise demand for hybrid UC deployments by offering a âbest-of-both-worldsâ solution. This solution aspires to provide security and control for mission-critical communications while delivering excellent collaboration to bolster business productivity.
It will introduce a Zoom-first experience within Mitelâs hybrid portfolio, granting access to the full Zoom Workplace platform, which integrates smoothly with existing Mitel investments.
âEffective communication and collaboration are the lifeblood of modern organisations, but they become transformative when tailored to meet each customerâs unique business objectives,â added Tarun Loomba, President and CEO of Mitel. â Flexibility and choice are at the heart of every Mitel solution, and partnering with Zoom strengthens our ability to deliver on that promise for customers around the world.â
The joint solution will be available for customers in the first half of 2025. As part of a multi-phase partnership plan, Zoom and Mitel say that advanced capabilities are currently in development, with further enhancements already in the pipeline.
More Specifics On What Exactly the Partnership Entails
Leveraging Mitelâs Common Communication Framework, the Zoom-Mitel offering will aim to provide a fully embedded, feature-rich experience without the need for add-ons or plug-ins.
This includes UC and mobile app integration, hardware device-level integration, and advanced business process capabilities such as bi-directional presence, call-to-video escalation, and centralised user provisioning and administration.
Additionally, users will have access to Zoom Phone with embedded support for Mitel PBX platforms, whether deployed on-premises or in the cloud. This offering intends to produce a compelling opportunity for Mitelâs over 70 million global end-users to enhance their collaboration experience by accessing Zoom AI Companion, Meetings, Team Chat, and more, all while leveraging their existing Mitel investments.
This partnership empowers Mitelâs sales teams and over 7,000 global partners to cross-sell the Zoom-first experience as a critical part of the unique hybrid solution or assist customers in migrating to Zoom if UCaaS is their preferred deployment model. Additionally, it enables Zoom sales teams to offer Mitelâs devices to Mitel hybrid customers who require physical endpoints.
The collaboration intends to address the growing customer demand for hybrid capabilities that function seamlessly across on-premises, private, and public cloud models, providing flexibility, security, and control. It also offers on-premises enterprise companies the opportunity to introduce collaboration capabilities at a pace and model that suits their needs.
âZoom has a deep understanding of the enterprise market and the flexibility required to support the complex, nuanced needs of todayâs distributed workforce,â said Loomba. âAs hybrid communications emerge as the future of business, we see this partnership as a catalyst for driving innovation and growth together with the Zoom team.â
