Innovative providers of cloud meeting, collaboration, and contact centre solutions, 8×8 are welcoming a new professional to their team this spring. The company, responsible for supporting over a million business users around the world, announced that former channel leader for the Westcon Group and CenturyLink, Bill Corbin will be joining their team.
As a channel industry veteran with plenty of background knowledge in the industry, Corbin will be bringing his experience to the 8×8 team in the newly-created position of SVP for Channels and Alliances. He’ll be reporting to the CEO, Vikram Verma, and Bill will be responsible for accelerating the current momentum and growth of the channel. Additionally, 8×8 hope that Corbin will be successful in driving adoption for the new “X Series” – a next-generation enterprise system for intelligence and business engagement.
Building on the Channel Program
Over the past year, interest in the 8×8 global channel program has seen significant adoption. In fact, according to performance reports, in the third quart of Fiscal 2018, 6 out of the top 10 deals completed by 8×8 were contributed to the business by channel partners. Additionally, channel bookings for the business increased by a rate of 50% year-over-year. CRN has also given the 8×8 channel partner program a five-star rating in their 2018 Partner Program guide.
According to the CEO for 8×8, Vik Verma, Bill should be a fantastic addition to the team, with 27 years of experience successfully helping companies to find new routes to market. Verma believes that Corbin’s leadership will help 8×8 to assist partners and joint customers in accomplishing incredible things during the next stage of the enterprise communications evolution.
Responding to an Evolving Market
As demand from the enterprise and midmarket segments continue to accelerate, with increased interest in cloud communication solutions, 8×8 believe that an increased focus on their channel services will help them to excel in the industry.
In a recent press release, Corbin noted that he believes it’s an exciting time to join 8×8 – a company that has emerged as a leader in unified communications, contact centres, and collaboration. Since partners are critical to the market leadership strategy for 8×8, Corbin hopes that he’ll be able to use his expertise to accelerate success in the channel and improve adoption for the recent X Series.
Bill will be joining 8×8 following a career with CenturyLink, where he was responsible for managing various aspects of a partner strategy worth $3 billion. Bill was the senior vice president for strategic partnerships and alliances for CenturyLink, and during his time there, he oversaw a team of 400 employees. Before CenturyLink, he was a Global Sales and Partner Manager for the Westcon Group.
