Enterprises want to grow faster and a vital contributor to achieving this goal is the enablement of high-quality telco operations. In the drive to expand, organisations can’t afford to be delayed by complex, slow, and inflexible telecommunication operations. Therefore, they need to automate and simplify processes to better align their telco operations to their pace of business.

Enterprises need visibility into their services so they are able to look ahead to plan, develop, and deliver customizable communications solutions to best fit their business needs. It’s equally important that they also have control of their telecom services as if they are being delivered over their own network. Lastly, they need the speed to deliver service – where and when – they are required.

Bandwidth has witnessed the need for these capabilities first hand, and has recently launched automation for multiple global workflows. These API solutions automate number management across more than 60 countries so customers can engage, buy, enable and configure phone numbers. All while simultaneously providing the necessary communications services to their customers. To enable this, Bandwidth has built application program interfaces (APIs) for number ordering, porting, and notifications – all conveniently housed within a global portal.

The Global Automated Workflow solutions make it easy for software engineers to automate communications without the need for telecoms industry expertise. It also eliminates any manual effort needed thanks to the automated interface between Bandwidth, Bandwidth’s customers, and even their customer’s customers. In addition, the solutions make it faster to expand globally into new markets all while working with fewer vendors or carriers.

The solutions have three key features that make it easy for organisations to expand globally. Global Number Selection (GNS) enables users to find, view and order the exact numbers they or their customers need with Bandwidth’s global number selection API. The Global Porting API allows customers to take control of their own porting process from start to finish without ever leaving their platform. The Global Notifications capability enables the customer to subscribe for callback notifications via centralised subscription APIs. This helps ensure that they receive updates as port orders progress through each step of the porting process.

Customers are already benefiting from the solutions.

“We knew we had to either secure the numbers ourselves or partner with someone who could provide them outside of our coverage areas – and 911 service had to be part of the equation,” explains Jim Butman, the Group President of Marketing, Sales & Customer Operations at TDS. “What we like about Bandwidth is that it brings both services to us. This partnership was an easy choice for us to make.”

For James Broadstone, a Senior Telecom Project Engineer at NAVEX, the ease of the Bandwidth offering has been compelling. “Our customers didn’t understand why ports were so difficult,” he says. “One of the great things about Bandwidth? Porting just isn’t difficult. The Bandwidth number portal is very easy to navigate – there’s no comparison. It’s a comfort knowing we have the extra network resilience, and we’re no longer tied to a specific location. We’ve also seen financial gains while moving our traffic to Bandwidth, just from dismantling our old infrastructure.”

Ashley Brodzinski, the Director of Product Management for Global Numbers at Bandwidth, adds: “In the current macroeconomic environment, automation becomes critical for growth and scale. Our customers are able to lower operational expenses and improve profitability while reducing the tele-complexity to grow globally and add new customers using Bandwidth’s APIs.”
