Barco has announced that its ClickShare Bar range of devices has been formally certified as carbon neutral.
Barco says its CO2-neutral certification by climate advisory organisation CO2logic means the Clickshare Bar range is the second ClickShare product to receive the CO2-neutral label, after the ClickShare Conference CX-50 2nd generation.
Barco’s statement that the ClickShare Bar is “the first carbon-neutral video bar for wireless conferencing on the market” illustrates a reaffirmation of its commitment to climate action and a significant milestone on its path towards a full carbon-neutral offering for meeting collaboration.
Jan van Houtte, EVP Meeting Experience at Barco, said:
We recognize businesses must fundamentally reassess their environmental footprint. ClickShare takes a proactive, innovative approach and helps customers achieve their carbon-neutral targets for a greener future in the meeting room. With the first carbon-neutral video bar for wireless conferencing, we solidify our position as green pioneer in the collaboration market.”
More Details On The ClickShare Bar’s Certification and Barco’s Broader Sustainability Goals
ClickShare intends to aid customers in outfitting meeting rooms with reliable technology while advancing sustainability objectives. According to a recent Frost & Sullivan survey, 86 percent of IT managers consider sustainability practices crucial for achieving business goals.
Barco states a longstanding commitment to reducing its environmental footprint. The Barco Eco scoring method assesses products’ ecodesign performance across material use, energy efficiency, packaging, logistics, and lifecycle. Throughout the entire lifecycle of ClickShare devices, Barco says it significantly reduces CO2 emissions.
ClickShare furthers its sustainability efforts with CO2-neutral certification for the ClickShare Bar range, ensuring any remaining emissions are offset to support genuine climate action.
The ClickShare Bar incorporates 35 percent next-life, recycled plastics. Its packaging consists of 86 percent recycled and 98 percent recyclable materials. The company achieves 100 percent waste reduction between suppliers by reusing packaging for shipments. Power savings exceed the strictest Extended Producer Responsibility (ERP) legislation requirements for standby mode by two times and are 30 percent more energy-efficient than competitors in BYOD mode.
ClickShare’s Trade-in program promotes efficient waste management and recycling. Over its 5-year lifecycle, the ClickShare Bar emits 299.2 kg of CO2, which is offset through the Huadu Afforestation project by planting 2.4 trees per ClickShare Bar. This project offsets the remaining carbon emissions associated with the production and use of the video bars by strategically planting trees to transform the wasteland into a forest in South China’s Guizhou province.
What Else Has Barco Been Up To In 2024?
In February, Barco partnered with Microsoft Teams to bring ClickShare device data to the Microsoft Teams Rooms Pro Management Portal and Pro Portal to improve management and end-user experiences.
IT managers will gain deeper insights into room and device usage, while users can expect the same quality experience on Teams as elsewhere. The Barco ClickShare solution allows users to host calls from their laptops and video conferencing platforms, utilising audio and video equipment in meeting rooms.
