Cloud communications provider Fuze has announced the release of the Fuze 7 UCaaS and CCaaS desktop application for Windows and the Mac.

Beginning in the first quarter of 2022, Fuze 7 will start replacing the established Fuze desktop application, which will remain available to enterprise customers.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Fuze was being acquired by fellow cloud communications firm 8×8 in a $250m cash and shares deal. 8×8 said it will use the buy to extend its market reach and help develop its own integrated UCaaS and CCaaS offerings.

Fuze 7 combines the power of the Fuze communications platform with a new lightweight desktop application that more effectively supports workers, said the vendor.

The next generation solution gives users access to “faster loading and improved responsiveness”, said Fuze, and includes capabilities that maximise user productivity and maintain business continuity within increasingly hybrid work models.

New features include a meeting mini-controller for viewing active speakers and screen share while multitasking, background blur that puts the focus on the user during meetings, screen share from chat that enables workers to share content without starting a meeting, and a “seamless” user experience across desktop and web applications.

“As enterprise specialists, we are committed to providing the best end user experience and customer services and support through continued innovation, and are constantly evolving our technology to meet the ever-changing needs of the modern worker,” said Rob Scudiere, President and Chief Operating Officer at Fuze.

“Fuze 7 gives our users the tools and flexibility they need to remain productive to drive business outcomes, and the ability to provide deeper integration with line-of-business applications, to meet users where they work.”

This release comes on the heels of Fuze’s recent platform update, which included new mobile, meetings and admin features, in addition to Microsoft Teams integration enhancements.

This year, Fuze also announced expansions to its vertical solutions for manufacturing and recruiting.
