Microsoft is introducing yet another way for companies to empower their employees in Microsoft Teams. Now that Teams is at the heart of the digital workspace for most users, Microsoft believes that staff need more ways to control the apps and services they have access to.

Every day, more people come together on Teams to collaborate on projects and chat with their colleagues. In this digital workspace, there are many employees who rely on using multiple apps and windows at the same time, allowing them to work through tasks with others, or independently, depending on their needs.

The introduction of Microsoft Teams pop-out windows and apps ensures that employees can adjust their workspace how they choose and stay focused on the things that matter.

Improving Productivity with Pop-Out Tabs

According to a blog post announcing the recent feature from Microsoft Teams, there are often situations where employees may need to juggle various tools and resources to work through tasks. For instance, these staff members may need to reference some notes from the shared OneNote pinned in a Teams environment while you work on other things.

Being able to pop various tabs and apps out of your Microsoft Teams environment so you can use everything at once can improve productivity for a host of use cases.

Microsoft notes that users can easily pop personal apps out of the app bar on the left of Teams, by right-clicking the app they want to access. You can also use the “pop-out” symbol included at the top of the bar, on the right-hand side. The personal app then pops out in a separate window, enabling a new ability to continue using the app, while you access your Teams screen separately.

Making the Most of Your Teams Experience

Microsoft also notes that its possible to pop tabs out from pinned chats and channels by clicking on the tab they want to access. Once again, you can click the pop-out symbol on the right of the header to access the tab in a separate window. Users will be able to use the tab functionality separately from the main window of Teams so that they can arrange their screen according to their needs.

Microsoft said that the team is excited to see how these new capabilities are going to support users on Teams in staying focused and productive for longer. The capabilities will be available to use straight away for many different tabs and apps, with additional functionality ready to roll out in the future.
