Leading interaction API company, Sendbird, recently announced a variety of impressive capabilities designed to help people come together for enhanced digital chat experiences. The new features include IP whitelisting, dynamic partitioning for open channels, message search, and message threading. Sendbird apparently developed these features to support the various ways that people like to communicate and collaborate.

Sendbird notes that the way people interact has changed drastically recently, sparking a massive transformation in digital communications that touches on everything from global interactions, to how people form connections on a personal level. Widespread adoption of new forms of communication has pushed Sendbird to implement various new chat experiences to suit any kind of business.

According to CEO of Sendbird, John Kim, chat is playing a valuable role in people’s lives today, and it’s quickly becoming the central heart of the workplace. The new features are built to enrich the way that people connect and redefine the future of digital interaction.

The New Sendbird Chat Experience

Sendbird is committed to creating the best large-scale group chat opportunities for private and public communities. Building on the latest launch of “Supergroups”, which can connect up to 20,000 people in a private chat at once, the company is introducing dynamic partitioning for public chats. Open channels can also support 60,000 members in public chats with a dedicated server.

Open channels with partitioning are perfect for bigger public chats with audience members in live streams. They work well in large gaming communities too. What makes Sendbird special is an excellent and reliable experience, even at an incredible scale. By building dynamic partitioning into open channels, Sendbird splits open channels into smaller sub-environments that are easier to manage. At the end of the discussion, the chat history is available to all participants.

Sendbird’s open channels also support features for moderation that make sure conversations can adhere to the standards of the brand, including features like mute and ban user, as well as profanity and domain filters.

Updating the Chat Experience

To further enhance the chat experience, Sendbird has taken another step in class-leading chat security, with IP whitelisting, alongside TLS encryption and AES256 encryption, and support for various compliance standards. IP whitelisting will prevent people from wreaking chaos after gaining access to a customer API key. With this feature enabled, if someone tries to make an API call with a server that hasn’t been listed with an approved address, the call wouldn’t go through.

Sendbird is also including message threading for cleaner chat discussions. Users can start threads in group chats, and these threads are available from any message to organise discussions and help users discuss topics in further detail without adding clutter to the main view of a conversation.

Message threading is particularly useful in the workplace, where threading can be suitable for organising discussions around specific messages, particularly in busy channels.

What’s more, Sendbird customers can now access search functionality to find the message information that they want fast. With the new feature, users can search across any conversation they choose to be part of. This is particularly useful for marketplaces where sellers and buyers might need to find conversations about transactions, for instance.
