Leading solution provider for communication and collaboration, BlueJeans by Verizon, recently announced updates to its Gateway for Teams. In an environment where organisations are searching for new ways to strengthen their workplace performance, the BlueJeans gateway gives companies the ability to extend their collaboration efforts, regardless of employee location.

Microsoft also announced Verizon would be a partner for the Operator Connect platform. The newly revealed Operator Connect is a solution that offers a direct peering relationship between Verizon’s SIP trunking offering, and Microsoft Teams. The system provides a secure, end-to-end telephony system, with automated provisioning and management.

Supporting A Transforming Workforce

According to President of Global Enterprise for Verizon Business, Sampath Sowmyanarayan, the pandemic has increased the need for companies to have enterprise-grade solutions to keep global workforces connected from every environment.

The recent updates to the communication portfolio with Microsoft’s Operator Connect system and BlueJeans gateway are a significant step forward. These enhancements ensure that enterprises can deploy scaling solutions to improve connectivity, create value in existing investments, and future-proof collaboration.

As Microsoft Teams reaches 115 million daily active users, business and IT leaders are now accelerating their move to the cloud for business continuity and flexibility. Verizon, as a certified gold partner for Microsoft, is well-positioned to support companies of all sizes looking to unlock Microsoft Teams’ potential. Verizon’s new Gateway will give teams a more advanced communications solution for team connectivity.

Features of the Teams Experience

With over a billion cloud-connected room systems, the gateway for Teams is a pure SaaS system that helps consumers to use SIP-based and H.323 endpoints to access meetings. Around 650 consumers have chosen the BlueJeans gateway as their cloud video interop system of choice.

Layering onto the existing feature set from BlueJeans, the gateway updates come with better CVI management controls and components like:

  • Auto-join: Gateway enabled room systems can auto-join Teams meetings without any buttons. This contactless solution is great for life post-pandemic.
  • 1080p video: With support for 1080p video, customers can experience higher quality video from room systems with existing hardware.
  • Video quality enhancements: Reduced pixelation in Teams meetings allows users to adapt their service to support specific situations, such as improved refresh rate in bad network areas.
  • Calendar integrations: BlueJeans’ proprietary one-touch experience is now available for Microsoft Outlook calendar integrations.
  • Skype invitation parsing: Customers using any H.323/SIP device with the BlueJeans calendar integration can receive Skype for Business calendar invites too.
  • China premium access: A dedicated network is available to handle video conferencing into and out of China.
  • Spotlight support: The spotlight function from Microsoft Teams extends to gateway-enabled rooms, so participants can see the participant on the room screen.
  • Enhanced mute: Admins now have the option to enable endpoints within the BlueJeans gateway to remain unmuted even if the original meeting has settings to Mute all entry.
  • Custom dial strings: Organisations can create instruction pages with alternative VTC dial strings built around certain network configurations and video endpoints.

BlueJeans by Verizon is helping companies to join Microsoft Teams meetings wherever they are, bringing dispersed employees back together in a hybrid workforce.
