Cregagh Presbyterian Church partnered with Rea Sound AV, an audio, lighting and visual equipment specialist, which in turn chose a number of Kramer’s solutions to integrate into the church’s existing infrastructure and improve its audio-visual (AV) technology.
Specifically, the Kramer SL-240C room controller was chosen as the central control unit to manage its video displays, scalers, amplifiers, Blu-ray players, lights, sensors, shades, screens, and door locks.
The device runs on Kramer Control, a cloud-based, end-to-end enterprise AV control system that enables full visibility and control for all devices across every room.
Roger McMullan, Director of Rea Sound AV, passed on some of the praise Kramer Control has received: “Kramer Control met the requirements of the client, with ease of use and reliability from day one. Most importantly, it provides confidence with every Sunday or mid-week service, knowing everything will work.
“The audio-visual environment was further enhanced by installing a cutting-edge projector, carefully selecting displays to match the church’s aesthetics, reconfiguring client displays, and upgrading streaming services.
McMullan continued: “We’ve received very positive feedback from Cregagh Presbyterian Church. They love the system. They even have visits from other churches interested in seeing what they succeeded in doing.
Today, the church is a beacon of modernity and technological advancement, offering an enriched worship experience to its congregation.”
Kramer AVoIP
Kramer Control provides church committee members with an intuitive interface with which to operate their AV technology, with no prior technical training required.
Moreover, the system can be controlled using an Apple iPad, which further helps ease user experiences.
From the congregation’s perspective, they can now take part in services from anywhere via televisions and projectors operating in sync with pictures and audio.
Multiple Kramer KDS-EN7 AVoIP encoders and Kramer KDS-DEC7 decoders were added to process input sources. These advanced transmitters and receivers can stream 4k video signals using Ethernet over copper cable. Meanwhile, AV signals are sent over IP through NETGEAR AV Line Managed Switches.
Preserving the church’s aesthetics was also important, and this value helped inform the final decision about which displays were installed.
McMullan reflected on the work that Rea Sound has previously carried out with both Kramer and different churches in the past:
We’ve partnered with several churches similar to Cregagh Presbyterian and worked with Kramer for a long time on many projects, so we know the quality of its products and the ease of control and flexibility it gives to ensure projects like this were successful.”
The Cregagh Presbyterian Church is located on Cregagh Road in Belfast. It has reportedly been a central part of the community for more than 110 years.
The church was nearly demolished in 2013 but a “Save Cregagh Church” campaign managed to successfully save the establishment.
However, with six different rooms, the audio-visual needs of the multi-story church complex became the latest issue that required attention.
