Over 300 partners were present in Munich for Mitel’s biggest EMEA and APAC event, Mitel Next 2018. The event is an opportunity for Mitel to update partners and customers on strategic changes and their performance over the last twelve months.

As well as updating customers on their strategy for 2018 including putting a greater emphasis on cloud services, Mitel have also taken the opportunity to announce major changes to their partner programme. The new Global Partner Programme which will launch in April aims to utilise strengths from previous Mitel and ShoreTel programs and enable a clear path for partners to go-to-market.

It does appear that the new programme will reduce the overall number of Mitel partners and distributors within EMEA, however the numbers are not confirmed as the streamlining will be an ongoing process in 2018. The restructured program will redesign the partner tiering systems with platinum, gold and authorised partner certification levels to be introduced. The new partnership tiers will be coupled with varying degrees of benefits including marketing and technical assistance, deal registration and a new demo program.

In distribution Mitel will operate a two-tier model to support its go-to-market strategy. Within the new two-tier model Mitel will collaborate with less distribution partners than they currently operate with. They have over 60 distribution partners within EMEA currently and the exact reduction in numbers has not been confirmed, nor have any of the distributors who will miss out. Mitel are hoping the reduction in distribution partners will enable them to improve service provision to partners and customers. The main benefits to the remaining partners will be enhanced ability to hold increased stock, assist with sales quotations and support, manage certifications, training and offer technical support and professional services.

Todd Abbott, Executive Vice President for Global Sales and Services explained.

“By introducing this new partner programme and aggregating our product distribution, we are ensuring our customers have the collaborative technology they need to communicate at the pace today’s markets demand.”

As well as announcing the changes to the Global Partner Program Mitel Next 2018 also provided the platform to showcase their biggest customer success stories. One of the most exciting was the announcement that Tottenham Hotspur Football Club have chosen Mitel as their Unified Communications partner to enable services in their new £1 billion stadium.

Tottenham Mitel
A Special New Customer

The partnership will see Mitel solutions support critical customer service functions for fans within premium hospitality and retail. A football club incorporates many strands of business verticals within the organisation as a whole and Mitel will operate throughout all of these areas. Mitel Communications will enable Tottenham employees across all departments to work from anywhere using mobile devices and connect with each other to collaborate on workflow.

As well as enabling the state of the art functionality Tottenham demand, resilience and support of the system was a critical factor in the club’s decision.

Matthew Collecott, Director of Finance and Operations at the club is reassured by their new partnership with Mitel.

“Mitel powers more than two billion connections every day and we are confident in its ability to provide communication solutions to meet the demands of our iconic new stadium and the wider business”

The partnership between Tottenham and Mitel hopes to enable the new stadium, which should open it’s turnstiles towards the end of 2018, to be the most technologically advanced in the world.
