It’s a new year, and a new chance for growth according to Telecom service provider, West Corp. The company began their quest to evolve into a bigger, more competitive company at the end of 2017 when they acquired an Emergency Phone Tracking System (ECaTS). The initial purchase gave the Telecom company access to a provider of unified, SaaS-based 911 traffic monitoring for state and local government agencies.

Now, West Corp. is expanding even further, by purchasing the automated services for appointment reminders, and assets of a provider of healthcare communications, PhoneTree. This will be West Corp.’s second deal in as many months, but the overall details of the purchase haven’t been revealed just yet.

About West Corp. and Phone Tree

Even without the ongoing acquisitions, West Corp. has some weight in the Telecoms services sector. They’re currently ranked number 24 in the CRN Solution Provider 500 list, and the chances are that their purchase of new companies in the year ahead will help them to grow even more competitive in today’s highly saturated market. West Corp. is known for providing reliable, and effective services for unified communications, safety, telecoms, and agent management.

In West Corp.’s words, PhoneTree are “pioneers” in software designed to automate calling systems, appointment reminders, voice messaging systems, and text messaging. In other words, it seems like the company will make a good addition to West Corp.’s network.

Growing with Caution

Though it’s safe to say that West UC Corp. is eager to expand their portfolio for 2018, they’re doing so with a degree of caution (despite the speed). The organisation declined to discuss the acquisition any further at this time and noted that the company management team is still very new.

Despite this, the president of the West Interactive Services segment, Skip Hanson, did read a prepared statement when approached by the news media, commenting that West Corp. believes PhoneTree has been an innovator in the industry of automated messaging. He said that his company was thrilled to be bringing the PhoneTree assets, clients, and partners into their network as they move into 2018 and search for new ways to serve and support their clients.

Moving Forward with West Corp.

Like many big brands in the Telecoms industry, West Corp. saw a significant amount of growth during 2017. In May, the telecom service provider unveiled a pending acquisition by the huge company “Apollo Global Management” from New York. The price offered for the purchase was around $5.1 billion, equalling out at around 2.5% lower than West Corp.’s market price at the time.

When the acquisition was successfully completed in October, West Corp. made the decision to quickly and aggressively overhaul their executive team, appointing a new CEO in the form of financial services professional, John Shlonsky, and a new president in payment professional, Robert Wechsler. In the aftermath of the West Corp. evolution, it seems likely that we’ll continue to see more acquisitions as the company transforms for the years ahead.
