When the science fiction film Minority Report was first released in 2002 the futuristic technologies imagined caught the eye of viewers. We were all wondering how long we would have to wait to play ourselves. Although not quite the same as the fictional operating environment operated in the film by Tom Cruise, the products on show from MultiTaction at ISE 2018 caught our eye in the same way.
Multi-touch has often been a disappointing experience with some level of interference or a limit on available touch points. We were able to experience MultiTaction’s hardware product, the MT cell first hand. Displayed in the format of a table at their exhibition in ISE the MT Cell offers unlimited multi touch points per screen. The screens operate using IR technology with over 32 cameras in-bedded within to recognise touch interaction.
MultiTaction have standardised on 55″ screens allowing various different configurations such as interactive flat, curved walls or as a horizontal display piece. As well a lack of limitation on contact points their surfaces can also be used in conjunction with infrared pens or 2D codes. 6 unique layers within the composition of the panel enable all of the functionality including a refined pressure sensing experience. CEO of MultiTaction, Pete Malcolm told us more about their product and the drivers.

The technology is ideally suited to customer based interaction and experience but also there are many applications with collaboration for meeting spaces and group work exercises.
As well as providing their own hardware MultiTaction also had on show various different software suites, suited to different end user requirements.Their MT Canvus software allows unlimited numbers of users in one space to collaborate, interacting with live data from multiple sources. Local server content can be used or pulled from a remote PC, laptop, tablet or smart device. Any PC based equipment or even specialist applications can be opened using MT Canvus.
For the wider collaboration market MultiTaction Canvus Connect expands on their collaboration software package enabling potentially global collaboration. It has been designed to enhance some of the more challenging aspects within business: team productivity, market agility and analysis of big data. Canvas Connect enables this by allowing an almost unlimited number of people to utilise wide variety of information sources in parallel with almost zero latency.

At ISE the technology was great to use and the possibilities for collaboration going forwards appear to be huge.
