Founded as recently as 2021, DailyBot offers a chat-based assistant for asynchronous work and remote collaboration. The startup is part of the Y Combinator S21 batch and is based out of New York City. The company’s flagship product is a bot tool that connects with your favourite conversational platforms like Slack, Google Chat, and Microsoft Teams to simplify work. In its few months out of stealth, Daily Bot has seen adoption across several large enterprises that include Adobe, Samsung, Walmart, Pixar, and Vodafone, to name a few.
Apart from the three conversational platforms we mentioned, DailyBot is available as a standalone web app for desktop and mobile. It also integrates with other business apps like Jira, Trello, and Bitbucket.

DailyBot’s main value proposition is that it regularly asks Teams users three questions covering what they achieved the day before, their plans for the present day, and any predicted roadblocks. This information is posted on the relevant channel so everyone is on the same page. DailyBot is built with the needs of remote teams in mind, so its 2021 launch makes perfect sense.
Let’s review the app in detail.
Inside DailyBot for Microsoft Teams
You can install DailyBot as a standalone app for Microsoft Teams without downloading the web app. This enables thousands of integrations and prebuilt workflow templates right inside Teams, simplifying task management. The bot targets agile teams and scrum workflows, as well as remote work management.
With DailyBot, you can access the following key features:
- Chatbot-based interface – As the name suggests, DailyBot operates almost entirely through a conversational interface (except for analytics). You can interact with the app using simple commands and submit all your data directly via Teams conversations. DailyBot can be programmed to ask relevant and timely questions on performance, progress, satisfaction, and other aspects of the employee experience. Data collected via conversations is ingested by DailyBot to give you a holistic picture of day-to-day team performance.
- Daily standups and check-ins – At its core, DailyBot is a facilitator of asynchronous communication. It asks team members three key questions – “What did you achieve yesterday?” “What are you going to work on today?,” and “Do you have any blockers?” in other words, you could replace your daily standup and check-in group calls through asynchronous communication that can adapt to different time zones and diverse productivity habits.
- Periodic feedback of various kinds – Apart from the three questions mentioned above, you can create and manage custom template questionnaires for Teams users. You can use DailyBot to conduct mid-project health checks, understand the pulse of employees, or drive engagement through non-work-related questions and ice-breakers.
- No-code interface – The best part about DailyBot is that it allows users to set up connected workflows across multiple applications without having to write a single line of code. The chatbot is easy to configure, and you can also choose to receive automated reports on how your employees respond to the questionnaires sent via DailyBot.
- DailyBot Report Digest – Report Digest is another name for the analytics capability on DailyBot. Whenever someone submits a standup report in response to the three questions we mentioned, you will receive a report digest update through the DailyBot chatbot. This is in addition to more detailed analytics insights, which you can access from the daily report dashboard on DailyBot.
- In-channel reports – Instead of receiving the report digest privately, you can also post it automatically as a channel update. This allows team members to stay on the same page, connecting asynchronously rather than in real-time video calls.
- Search and filter – You can deep-dive into your daily reports further using the search and filter mechanism. For each day, you’ll be able to view how each team member responded to the three questions asked. You can filter the view to focus on a particular question and search for a specific team member by name to check progress.
- Multilingual support – DailyBot is among the few asynchronous communication bots out there to support non-English languages. Currently, you can access DailyBot’s features in Spanish and Portuguese, which is impressive given that it’s still early days.
Why the DailyBot App Makes a Difference
DailyBot is easy to set up and use. It is a turnkey solution, so you won’t need to further configure it before implementation. And, the availability of multiple languages is an added advantage.
What We Think
