BluIP launched a phone system for Teams and Skype in 2018 before Microsoft fully galvanised its Teams platform’s telephony strategy. Over the years, this has matured into a cloud-based calling solution for Teams, helping you make the most of the platform’s growing telephony features. In 2020, BluIP extended its free trial offer for Enhanced Cloud Calling in response to the dramatic rise in remote work requirements.
Enhanced Cloud Calling provides Teams users with a turnkey calling solution for making VoIP and PSTN calls directly from the Teams interface. Let us review the app in more detail.
Inside Enhanced Cloud Calling for Microsoft Teams
There are a couple of prerequisites for using this integration. Businesses need a Microsoft Office 365 E5/M5 or E3 license and a Phone System license. They also need to subscribe to BluIP from their product page. The Office 365 global administrator should create an Office 365 tenant subdomain that can be connected to BluIP’s DNS server while the tenant is connected to the BluIP calling platform. This allows admins to manage user activation/deactivation and also create voice routing policies.
Enhanced Cloud Calling by BluIP enables the following key features:
- Easy-to-use interface – Enhanced Cloud Calling introduces a simple and intuitive calling UI for Teams users. You can view the full list of callers, find users to call by user name, and even use BluIP for contact centres. The app offers full telephony features that can be used to convert Teams into a complete feature contact centre solution.
- Advanced telephony features – Enhanced Cloud Calling by BluIP has all the features you could expect from your enterprise telephony provider. You can connect with users via PSTN, add tolled numbers useful for customer support, and even set up a faxing system based on Teams + BluIP. The app also optionally supports a single-number service.
- Minimal downtime guarantee – This is among the key advantages of Enhanced Cloud Calling for Teams. The app helps to reduce downtime by providing full geographical redundancy. And, in case of an outage, there are failover mechanisms built on your local phone network and 4G infrastructure for seamless and uninterrupted functionality.
- Consolidated billing – The Enhanced Cloud Calling app makes life easier for IT procurement by delivering consolidated billing. Instead of individual invoices for Teams Calling Plan, PSTN, Microsoft Teams, and Skype for Business, you now have a singular bill for your entire telephony landscape. This also helps to keep your cumulative costs in check.
- Extension dialling to non-Teams users – Enhanced Cloud Calling has an enterprise extension dial-in feature to facilitate smooth intra-organisation communication. Importantly, you can use this capability to reach any employee or team within the enterprise, even if they do not have access or aren’t using Microsoft Teams.
- Analogue device support – In addition to Microsoft Teams clients such as your workstation, smartphones, and Teams-certified phones, you can integrate the Enhanced Cloud Calling app for Teams with legacy and analogue devices. The app is compatible with lobby phones, all phones, security systems, and more.
Why the Enhanced Cloud Calling App Makes a Difference
With enterprises increasingly looking to use Microsoft Teams as their primary phone system, BluIP’s Enhanced Cloud Calling app could play a significant role. It gives you a full feature calling experience with a relatively simple billing quotient. It’s also sufficiently flexible, adapting to different devices, regions with patchy connectivity, and non-Teams user scenarios. Further, BluIP is a proven industry veteran – so enterprises choosing the company as their preferred telephony vendor in conjunction with Teams are in good hands.
What We Think?
The Enhanced Cloud Calling app is free for the first 100 users for 100 days. Suppose you find the solution suitable for your company. In that case, you can always reach out to BluIP for a custom quote in line with your total number of seats and network conditions. Correctly implemented, the app could eventually replace your entire PBX system.
