Microsoft Unveils Major Copilot Upgrade, Adds ‘Vision’ for Copilot on Windows Users
Microsoft has revealed a major new Copilot upgrade with several compelling enterprise-centric applications.
Unveiled as part of Microsoft’s 50th-anniversary event, the newly enhanced Copilot includes features such as advanced memory and web-based action capabilities, camera and screen analysis, and more. This raft of new capabilities intends to bring Copilot’s feature set in line with other high-profile, sophisticated competitors like Anthropic’s Claude and OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
While the update is generally for Microsoft’s consumer-focused Copilot rather than its business-specific Copilot 365 sister product, there are myriad opportunities to leverage the tool to securely boost productivity and collaboration across the enterprise.
Mustafa Suleyman, Executive Vice President and CEO of Microsoft AI, wrote in an accompanying blog:
Copilot will understand you in the context of your life, and show up, on your terms, in the right way at the right time. This is far richer, more dynamic, supportive and emergent than any software we’ve seen before. It’s a new kind of relationship with technology, a new era.”
In other Copilot news, Microsoft is launching Copilot Vision for Windows and smartphone users. This new feature allows the AI assistant to interpret your screen or even your phone’s camera feed to provide real-time support. It marks a significant step in Microsoft’s integration of artificial intelligence into everyday devices, bridging the gap between digital tools and the physical world.

WhatsApp Urges Desktop Users Update App ASAP After Bug Risks Exposing Data
WhatsApp is urging users to update its desktop app as soon as possible to fix a security bug that, if not addressed, could expose their personal data.
WhatsApp has fixed an alarming bug, CVE-2025-30401, that impacts older iterations of WhatsApp Desktop for Windows PCs. WhatsApp has issued a security warning affirming that not updating could place personal data at risk.
A recently discovered vulnerability in WhatsApp for Windows exposed users to a serious security risk known as spoofing. This exploit enables malicious actors to disguise harmful code within seemingly harmless image attachments. Once a user clicks on the image, attackers can inject and execute unauthorised scripts on the system — a method known as arbitrary code execution.
WhatsApp’s security advisory wrote:
A spoofing issue in WhatsApp for Windows prior to version 2.2450.6 displayed attachments according to their MIME type but selected the file opening handler based on the attachment’s filename extension. A maliciously crafted mismatch could have caused the recipient to inadvertently execute arbitrary code rather than view the attachment when manually opening the attachment inside WhatsApp.”
The flaw was disclosed through parent company Meta’s bug bounty program. Meta has addressed the vulnerability in the latest WhatsApp for Windows update (version 2.2450.6 or later). At this time, neither WhatsApp nor Meta has reported any evidence of the vulnerability being exploited in the wild.
IT teams are strongly advised to deploy this patch immediately to safeguard users and maintain endpoint security.
