BT and SEACOM have partnered to help SEACOM further its own infrastructure and deliver networking, security and communications solutions to customers in Africa.

SEACOM will use BT’s services, vendor relationships and expertise to expand its portfolio of services aimed at African businesses.

Customers will have access to BT’s Cloud Security Incident Event Management (SIEM) platform, which provides real-time visibility and monitoring across an organisation’s IT environment.

Oliver Fortuin, Group Chief Executive Officer of SEACOM, commented: “We’re excited to form this strategic alliance with BT and see the combined value of what we bring to our respective markets.

“With SEACOM’s global network and local presence, and BT’s global reach and expertise, we will be able to deliver a comprehensive portfolio of Cloud, security, and connectivity services that are reliable, scalable, and at the cutting-edge of industry.”

According to SEACOM, since it launched its business division, the company has substantially grown its customer and partnership base to strengthen its offerings.

BT protects some of the world’s largest organisations from cyber threats with its global network of 24/7 Security Operations Centres (SOCs).

The company employs over 3,000 cyber security experts to help customers detect, analyse and respond to incidents as they happen.

Alessandro Adriani, director of system integrators and telecom service providers at BT’s Global unit, said: “We are thrilled to deliver BT’s world-class solutions to SEACOM and to their customers across the African continent.

“The areas of secure multi-cloud connectivity, next-generation networking solutions and collaboration services are the sweet spot where SEACOM and BT will combine their respective strengths.”

SEACOM launched Africa’s first submarine broadband cable system along the East and South coasts of the continent in 2009.

Since then, the company has become a preferred partner for many African businesses, network carriers and service providers.

Mitel recently revealed it had partnered with ATS Networks to deliver its unified communications and collaboration solutions to French-speaking Africa.

The partnership with ATS enables Mitel to leverage the company’s reseller network across Algeria, Ivory Coast, Morocco, Senegal, and Tunisia.

Earlier this year, Google Cloud and BT announced a strategic, five-year partnership as part of plans to revamp BT Digital’s services.

BT is remoulding its digital approach to be cloud-first and AI-first, involving group-wide data and AI fabric.

Google Cloud will share several products and services with BT, including cloud infrastructure, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), API management, security, and data analytics.
